Hey guys, my goal for the past couple of weeks has been to get sub 30 and then after that average a sub 30. Right now i know 7 pll's which is basically 4 because to do the other ones you just need to do the reverse motion, and only 1 of all the 2 look oll's. My cross time can vary from 3 to 8 seconds but i average around 5 and i usually finish my f2l within 25 seconds of solving the cube. Can any experinced cuber thats gone through this give me some tips on how to average a sub 30. Oh and btw my best is a 32 and i am averaging a sub 40 IF I KNOW the pll's. Ive got a quick oll just by doing R U R' U' but should i memorize the algorithms.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Hey there. I recently broke the avg 30s barrier, and it is difficult to know exactly what to practice.

First you definately need to learn at least 2-look OLL and PLL. From there, try learning as many PLL's as possible (preferrably all of them, there arn't that many).

But the F2L is the most important. Try scrambling your cube and going through your F2L slowly, trying to be as efficient as possible. If you do not know intuitive Fredrich F2L yet, LEARN IT! Watch some of Badmephisto's etc. videos to learn intuitive F2L pairing. Aim for a sub 20 (perhaps even sub 15) s F2L.

Good Luck with your endeavors.

If you haven't learned two-look OLL yet, you should for sure learn that, they're mostly very fast, easy to follow algs, and you should easily be able to learn one a day. Afterwards, don't learn any more OLLs for a while, learn PLL's regularly but not too fast or too slow, one every day or so is a good speed, while practicing F2L.

Keep on practicing F2L by just doing a lot of solves. Eventually you'll be able to see the pairs faster and easier. Massive solve sessions (averages of 100+) are great practice and will speed you up a lot, so do lots of them.

Your cross is a bit slow I think, but that will improve. Like F2L, it just takes practice for you to be able to see how the pieces will move as you solve, and eventually be able to plan out your cross in inspection.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll reach sub 30 in no time!

alright thanks. im kinda mad right now i had a sub 30 in the bag. it mightve been a 25 buttt i didnt know the algorithm and then choked on the 2 look pll. fml. thanks anyway though i'll try that.

1- pratice all the time
2-look ahead in f2l
3-be comfortable with f2l cases
4-2 look learn it
5-2 look pll
6-use a metronome
7-fast crosses
8-full pll
9-pratice more
10-full oll
11-pateints (Cant Spell)
12-Learn faster algs
13- Learn tricks and small shortcuts = SUB 20 AVERAGES

already thanks guys. ive already learned the chameleon and sune oll's. im gonna learn the 6 2 look ones than im gonna learn [or try] the pll's

Massive solve sessions (averages of 100+) are great practice and will speed you up a lot, so do lots of them.

Interesting, ill have to try some of those soon and see how much it helps, I usually just solve 15-25 solves at each session and then do random practice throughout the day.
