You're welcome. :)

^^This is what spell check and the edit button are for. ^^

EDIT: On a related note, I think that this is a really good idea.

lol, this is a forum, not like an enligsh project. we are here to talk about rubiks cube. so you cant type lol? there is a red line under it, so we need to type out laugh out loud?

Exactly... This is a FORUM. A place to have intelligent discussions, not to disregard the intelligent part. If you can't take the time to think out what you are typing, then you obviously aren't saying something important enough for it to be on the forum. This is not an IM chat, this is a discussion board where people share ideas.

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if I were to get flamed and people say "You make a lot of stupid posts." But I think I don't people who type improperly on this forum do get annoying and "repeated questioners?" should get a warning first and then a suspension in my opinion.

I would suggest David Woner to be an admin. I know my opinion means nothing but he seems like somebody who can take action and he knows a lot about speedcubing.

I think we should suspend (i.e. ban for a short amount of time) users who blatantly disregard forum rules.

This forum has been getting progressively worse and worse because of the amount of users who seem to only exist to contribute a bad ambiance to this forum. I'm talking about users who don't understand the concepts of spelling, grammar, and punctuation, ask stupid and obvious questions repeatedly, bump old topics, ruin serious discussions, and otherwise make this forum terrible. We COULD have a good place to discuss new cubing developments, make jokes, and compare times and strategies, but we DON'T, because of the volume of terrible posts. Since the possibility of convincing all of the good cubers to all move to another forum is nonexistent, we need to change speedsolving to make it more friendly to people who actually care about its content.

Well, I've had enough. We need real moderation. We need someone who will ban a user for bumping a two-year-old thread just to say "wow this is old". Forget the rules - I shouldn't even have to ask you whether this kind of thing contributes a negative ambiance to the forum. You should already know. Stuff like this just makes this forum look like a place for people with no intelligence or social etiquette. That is not what I want the main English-speaking cubing forum to be.

We can do so much better, but we need the administration's help to make it happen.
GOSH IM SORRYYY!!!! I DIDNT KNOW CUT ME SOME SLACK! ANGER ISSUES!

I'd rather cut you a ban
Fortunately, I don't have that ability

Seriously though, what was it you didn't know? Nobody had posted in a topic, and you felt the need to say it was old. How can you possibly not realize that that was a bad idea? Most bumps are because people find a thread through a link or related threads and don't realize the date, but you were clearly well aware of the date. What could you possibly not have known?

Well, you've redeemed yourself a little by owning up to your mistake! Good for you.

Yeah broski, sometimes I don't realize the dates and might accidentally bump a thread but what if you still have a relevant question that still hasn't been answered? And lastly how old must a thread be before you can bump it up? It's not like theres a set number so I want to know how long it would be appropriate before I know not to bump it.

If we cut everyone some slack and let each person bump one old thread for no flipping reason, this forum would be a mess.

Use your judgment. If you still have a relevant question, that's okay. "Wow this is old" is not a relevant question or discussion point to add to a two year old thread, no matter how you look at it.

There's a difference between not noticing the dates and noticing them, but ignoring them and saying "this is old" for no reason.
And I would say a month is too long, unless you have a really good reason to bump it, and anything less than a week is too early, unless you need the information quickly and your topic is on the next page.

Yes, the forum would be a mess if we let each person bump one thread.

However, I think we should be a little forgiving because we all make stupid mistakes sometimes.

But he did it on purpose...

However, if you are a native English speaker and you're using bad spelling/grammar on purpose, it's really easy to tell ("wat do u tink i shud use 4 my cube"), and it's just annoying.

agreed. It's pretty obvious that some people just use bad grammar for their amusement, while others, who are not native speakers actually try to type coherently. I strongly support that the users who bump threads for no reason and use incoherent grammar should be suspended. But there really is no need to be complete grammar Nazis and correct everything word for word. That would just make us look like snobbish perfectionist. Just a little clearer and none of these... "wat do u tink i shud use 4 my cube"

I agree that perhaps more moderation is needed, but I don't think people who use poor grammar should be suspended for just one post, especially if it is their first offense. This would just be too fine of a line to draw realistically - sometimes you just can't tell intentional mistakes from unintentional ones. It seems like this could also discourage non-native English speakers from contributing, which shouldn't be the goal of the forum.

I will agree that some posts can be blatantly annoying... but again, it could just be someone who doesn't know better. Perhaps we could have a warning system? 3 strikes, you're out?
1st offense - screen requiring user to agree to rules
2nd offense - week of suspension
3rd offense - ban
