Who do you cube with?

Two Vanhalas might come to Danish Open.

Three (or maybe even four) Hugheys might compete in the Virginia Open.

I didn't have anyone to cube with, so I taught my daughters how to do it. Now my wife is also learning how. :) Admittedly, we're not as good as some of the "real" cubing families (like Bernett's or Rama's or Anssi's), but hey, we're just getting started.

It must be great to be able to cube with your family. If I ever catch my wife with a cube in her hands, then it's because I caught her trying to hide it from me. And my daughter is just too young (although she tries :) )

Thanks, Rama, that means a lot coming from you.

I think there have been quite a few times when my wife might have liked the idea of hiding my cube from me when I've gotten carried away with it, but she's never done it (which proves she's really something special), and now that she's had some success at learning (she has about got the F2L down now), she has some positive vibes with it, which definitely helps. And she loves being able to brag about her daughters who can do it.

Mike all families who do the cube are an real cubing family. :)

It's great to get your family involved and sharing in your interests.

My brother has expressed an interest in learning to cube, but I feel he is to lazy to ever bother. My dad likes doing one side (except for my cube recently he hasn't touched one since the 80s), but does not have the patience to bother with anything else.

I am buying my cousin (15 years old) his first cube for his birthday. I have ordered a nice speedcube, and will put it together for him so it's perfectly tuned, and teach him a basic method.

I'll also let him take apart and build one of mine so that he can use his, and learn how to put it together and lube it properly.

He seems very enthusiastic to learn and is excited to get his cube.

It really is great spreading the love of cube with friends in family. My interest in cubing rose immensely once I found someone to cube and compete with.

My wife, three sons, and 1 daughter-in-law can all solve the 3x3x3. The daughter-in-law and one of my sons have also solved the 4x4x4. That same son has also solved the 5x5x5. We've all solved the 2x2x2 except the son who is the fastest at solving the 3x3x3. Only one son and his wife have solved the 3x3x3 in less than a minute. I taught 2 sons Jasmine's method, the daughter-in-law and wife the Working Corner Method from Mark Jeay's site, and the other son the Corners First Method from Adam Cheyer's site. None of them also wanted to learn the Edges First Method which is my favorite. I explain my implementation at my website. You can find it in my blog. I also posted the method I use for doing the 4x4x4. I don't have a specific method for doing the 5x5x5 yet. I just use combinations of things I've learned for solving the others. None of the family is as into the cube as much as I am, but at least they tolerate my madness, and once in awhile will join in.
