When to buy new cubes

Is there a specific milestone (e.g. Sub-15, sub-10) where your main starts to hold you back?
I use the RS3M V5 but it's damaged a bit so it's not competition legal
I want to buy the Dayan Guhong Pro+ but my parents don't like dining and they wouldn't say yes
(I really want a new cube so I can compete in 3x3 )

I've seen the visual guide for the damage regulations and it matches perfectly
There's a small hole chipped in the Yellow Orange Green corner

No. If you're using anything resembling a modern cube, it's not holding you back, at least not when it comes to 3x3.

I mean, maybe by like 0.02 seconds can be shaved by using a top-tier cube with proper lube+setup, but it's not significant.

There's not really any milestone where a good, magnetic, modern speedcube will hold you back. I would say the GuHong Pro+ is a very solid option.
