Google ai is designed to compute an answer like under a second after the page loads, meanwhile ChatGPT thinks of what the answer could be before even responding.

Also, daily there are 14 billion google searches, around 18% have the AI overview unpromptedly show up,[1] so they have to make it dumber so it doesn’t waste as much money.

Gemini (I’m pretty sure a lite version of it is the AI overview) is pretty smart though.
