Any method that does firdt layers in a very free and efficient quick way is pretty epikbut the thing is you would need to be pretty good at doing so to get good at these methods cfop and some others are just algroithems and not very much intuition especially if advanced f2l just the cross is intuitive but yoy do that in 1 algroithem after looking at cube anyway but they can come at the cost of losing s bit of time while thinking but if you can get good at them yoy are epic

I think APB. I just haven’t switched to it since not many resources and example solves/reconstructions aren’t in APB, and I could be wrong that it’s the best method so it would be risky to switch
It for sure might have a big drop in time for beginners who just use cfop but to use it instead of any other method that is advanced or even full cfop you would quickly realize it's not really worth it unless you learn the hundreds of algrorithems

I’m pretty sure my username gives this away, but Roux is on top for me. I understand it’s not as algorithmic or TPS intensive as other methods, but the low move count and the possibility of even lower move count on lucky scrambles is just too good. We already have examples of this.

Although unofficial, Fahmi Aulia Rachman has gotten three sub-3s with roux: 2.81, 2.62 & 2.36.

CFOP, Roux, ZB, and APB are good methods
but dont bag me but I think Orcora Petrus, CXC-1, and CaLau2 have really good potential aswell

yeah hes so good, he has the OH Single UWR of 3.14!!!
Theoretically ZB is probably the best method

Hypothetically the best method is to memorise the optimal solution for all 43 quintillion scrambles

Fahmi needs to be nerfed he’s just too good

No that’s the thing I click the three dots and then I don’t know what to press from there. I am just a bit slow

Not the 3 dots that are like an artow the ones that make a line like dot sequence and when yoy click it there should be create poll button I couldn't send video explanation

I Hope when I Will make sub 10 with CFBL this Method mentioned.
But I dont know APB but I think ZB Is very hard to learn.
Today I maked an Ao5: 17.62 with CFBL.

In my opinion, Roux, Lau & APB have great potential for best cubing methods. What are your thoughts on the theoretically best cubing methods?
If we are asking about the highest level, then the answer is undeniably ZB, at least with our current knowledge. What I have noticed, and that I don't see anyone else ever talk about, is how many looks it takes to solve any given scramble. A standard-level CFOP solve takes around 5 looks: cross+1, followed by three pairs, then OLL-PLL. At the highest level this can be translated into full F2L, OLL-PLL, giving a 3-look solve. Now if we look at ZB at the highest level, it can be solved with 2 looks every single time, being full F2L+EO in inspection and then ZBLL. Now, if we take some of the examples you have given, Roux has a pretty big roadblock during CMLL; it is practically impossible to look past it in inspection, and LSE is not realistically possible to 1-look either, so even if you could plan up to CMLL, you would still have to pause for LSE, realistically giving a 3-look optimal. As for Lau/APB, both do fundamentally the same thing; only Lau does it in a less efficient and straight-up worse way. APB trends towards 3-look optimal as well, being full 223+BRpair in inspection, with the possibility for EO, followed by LXS and then ZBLL.

When considering the best method, you almost need to work backwards; the solve almost certainly needs to end in ZBLL, as there is no other realistic LL approach that beats it. So this forces the rest of the solve to end with EO. Now this does leave room for some variety with how you construct the first 2 layers and EO, one way being APB and another ZB. But ZB takes advantage of this much better than any other method currently developed, as its simple break and restore method for F2L allows for easy tracking in inspection, nurturing further depth than anything else. And as we've seen with Xuanyi's solving style, there are ways to further reduce move count while still keeping strong inspection depth. He incorporates pseudo-slotting in a majority of his solves, allowing him to take advantage of pseudo-pairs and become more efficient/direct, which further reinforces inspection depth. Xuanyi is the ideal solver that people have speculated about in the past when thinking of what a cuber with Ruihang's TPS, Tymon's efficiency, and Max's lookahead. And this isn't even his peak; he can turn faster, he can plan better, and he can be more efficient. In just a few years' time, we will likely see his peak, and solves that are nearing human perfection with ZB.

But this doesn't apply to 99% of cubers; ZB just isn't worth it. This is why CFOP is the main method; it is simple, only having 78 LL algorithms. It doesn't rely on efficient block-building or large alg sets; it is pure fundamentals at its core. This is why Yiheng is still so competitive with Xuanyi, despite being at such a huge efficiency disadvantage. And this is why most amateur and even pro cubers still use CFOP; it has such a high skill ceiling while having a relatively low skill floor, allowing solvers of all speeds to use it effectively. Though ZB has a much higher effective ceiling, which is all cubers at the highest level care about and why 8 of the top 10 cubers in the world have chosen ZB over CFOP.

There is actually a solution that makes Roux 2-Look viable. Pinkie pie. You do a weird form of ZBLS & ZBLL during Second block to CMLL transition which makes LSE easily predictable and the solve is 2 lookable. It also slightly reduces the move count and requires less M moves.
