Greetings, this is HellHeater. I'm a 20 year old college student "studying" computer engineering. I've been cubing since.. I believe 2018? I've not been cubing at all for almost 3 years though, I'm rusty as Hell™. At my peak, I'd average 13s on a 3x3 and now I average about 20s. I forgot half of the OLLs and lookahead is a myth. A friend of mine I was always extremely jealous of unintentionally got me into this. I learned how to solve a few weeks after him and eventually caught up to him. Man we were competitive in the middle school, we had taught how to solve it to a few more kids but we were always the top 2. We held small competitions amongst us and our times were CLOSE. The winner of each competition would probably change depending on what ruleset you used. Good times. Anyway, you may know me from Terraria forums or Klei forums or maybe even Stardew Valley forums. Most likely Terraria forums as I'm most active there. And to be clear, I got here mostly for the forums itself and not so much for the speedcubing. I am also a hypercuber. I can solve one in about 8-9 minutes. Not very impressive but not nothing nontheless. I'm usually the "4D guy" or "nerd" in my friend groups but I suppose that won't be the case here, I saw that hypercubing thread. That being said, this place genuinely creeps me out because of how "speedcuber" everyone is. I feel as though I immediately lost my individuality as soon as I made my account. I made this pfp myself about 6 years ago and what's terrifying is that everyone has a rubik's cube pfp or rubik's cube related username. It genuinely feels like a SCP anomaly or some hivemind.

My favorite game, by far, is Hollow Knight. Followed by Silksong, Terraria, Portal series, Terra Tech, Omori and Celeste in that order. 4D golf and 5D chess are honorable mentions.
I don't play FPS games, only one I play is FPS chess funnily enough.

Welcome fellow engineering major (mechanical) the fall off is real. We indeed get rusty. That’s crazy you do hypercubing. There’s a handful of folks who also do that here. Good luck with your goals

YOO I STARTED CUBING TOO OUT OF JEALOUSY

I think in Yr 7 (grade 6 i think) I might have been 2nd best but then everyone stopped cubing in my school so im the #1 now.

When I was most active I was by far the fastest, the only person who wasnt a beginner.

No that's true, I couldn't imagine someone that knows full OLL and not all of their friends know about it.

You should try FPS games, I love one (on roblox sadly) called Rivals.

I tried FPS games before, definitely not for me. Maybe if it's not competitive then it can work out but you couldn't pay me to play a 5v5 type game. Also I simply don't play games I don't have full control over. If I cannot spawn endgame items whenever, mod the game till its unrecognisable or take my revenge if RNG or features I don't like screws me over, I usually just don't play that game. And competitive games of course would never allow that, rightfully so. It's real convenient this is the case because I use linux (CachyOS ftw) and almost every borked game is those that I wouldn't have played to begin with.

What events do you also do if so ?

In 3D my favorite is 5x5 but I've only attended one competition before. Never had the chance ever since.
I just checked, there is a comp next week in an hour distance (negligible in the city I'm in) but entrance fee is EXPENSIVE, I don't have all my cubes with me in my dorm, and registration closed 6 hours ago lmao. Then again, I haven't practiced in several years. Only done some solves time to time. My current commitment id to 3^4 and I intend to get sub 4 by the end of may.

I got a trusty rs3m and MGC for everything else. I don't remember what my 2x2 or piraminx is, my skewb is a dollar store one. And I use HSC for 3^4.

I made my profile about 5 years ago. A bit after I made it, I dropped it and the core broke. I kept the remains of it. I tried to replace the core with an older cube but sizes didn't align and now I just have a mangled abomination zombie in my drawer in a bag. The rest of my cubes lived alongside it and my other severely rusted cubes that I used in public pools for underwater solves. They must be traumatized.

It isn't because I'm too inert and in background in my own life to study at all. I couldn't answer that.

Not a clue, I'd enjoy software development but operating systems seems likely because my uncle is in that field and MMMIGHT be able to get me a job.

I should give it a rewatch

The first few episodes are agonizingly cliche imo but if you get past it it's pure gem. Just don't watch the movie. It doesn't exist.
