I was trying to find these algs using JaCube, but I am not sure I understand how it works. But could someone please find the alg that will switch the orientation of UF and UB, with everything else solved. The edges in the M layer can be switched, but need to be oriented.
And could someone please show my the command you would type into JaCube, so I can maybe understand how it works?
Oh ya, and I would prefer the alg to be 2gen M/U, but if another alg is faster/shorter, that is fine.

Thanks in advance. :)

i have one but its not optimized i think.
U M2 (M' U)4 (M U)4 M2 U'

U M2 (M' U M' U M' U M' U')x2 M2 U' is basically the same thing, but nicer to execute. The first M2 and M' cancel into M of course, but it's easier for me to write it that way.

Edit: what peterbat wrote is much nicer, although I do M' with my right hand I so would perform that as FRF' (M'U')x4 FR'F'

That would work. I also found this one from the Ortega method: U F2 U2 M' U M2 U F2 U2 M' U. It is actually pretty nice.
Hmm, just saw the other algs. I'll try them all out and see which feels best.

Yep, that is. Thanks. :)
And do you know one that does the same thing, but to all of the M slice edges?
The one I'm using for that case is:
U M U' B2 U M2 U' F2 U M U' F2 B2
It has the advantage that you can insert M moves before the last F2 and/or the last B2 to perfform edge permutation at the same time as orientation.

I believe this is the shortest possible solution:
M' U2 M U2

:s I don't understand, can you please it explain it to me? (and anyone else who doesn't understand)

Well, for many orientation schemes, that alg does flip UF and UB (and permutes some M slice edges, as allowed by him). Since I have no idea why he's asking (he only asked for the alg but didn't provide a context), this might very well be what he needs.

Sorry, I don't think I made myself clear. I wanted an alg that oriented 2 of the edges.

And I am currently using one of the algs posted. M' U M' U M' U2 M U M U M U2. But chan geit it to M' U M' U M' d2 M' U M' U M' U2. The d2 isn't exactly easy to execute, but it is faster for me that M moves.

Ah yes, now I see, after applying those moves on a cube, thanks :)

Alright, since you were kind enough to take the bait, I'll be a little more specific about those schemes I'm talking about. You know the common orientation scheme for edges, right? The one that can be specified as "an edge is correctly oriented iff it can be solved (relative to centers) using only U,D,L,R moves. Similarly, define a new scheme where the M slice edges are correctly oriented iff they can be solved (relative to let's say the DFL corner) using only M moves. In such a scheme, my above alg flips UF and UB (and permutes some M slice edges).

So they're incorrectly oriented whenever they're not in the M slice? UR and RU are both incorrect?
