i've kept on saying i will start a grind for cubing, and get faster, but i'll be real, I don't and can't find a good method to learn cfop over time. I average 23 second and it's been like that since 2025. My usual method was studying from algorithm sheets, but i realized it hasnt been making an effect on me

so to cubers who are experienced, how did you get the grasp of cfop at the start? then how did you practice more methods?

i actually need help lol
thanks

Well do you know full OLL and PLL yet? If not then learn it.
Can you see your first F2L pair as soon as you have solved the cross? If not then practice tracking pieces.
Can you see your next F2L pair while solving one? If not then turn slower and look ahead and track pieces.
i dont feel like full OLL is a need for sub 20, since ive gotten averages under 19 secs with 2 look oll

as for how to practice (which i totally forgot to put in the thread), it depends on your weaknesses, but here are some practice drills you can do:
if you can’t plan cross in under 8 moves in inspection: i suggest watching example solves/WR avg recons from faster solvers. Then try to implement them into your solves with untimed solves. Don’t be afraid to mess up the cross, untimed solves are supposed to be your “sand box”.
if your turning isn’t good: try to get sub-1 in some easy PLL algs and try to spam R’ F R U’ as fast as you can. While this seems kinda boring it will really help you improve your turning. Go from slow precise turns then speed up the turning from there. You might want to try using a looser cube so that you’ll have a looser grip on the cube, which will make your turning faster.
if you pause too much: try slowing down your turning and looking away from the pair you are doing. One important thing to note though, DO NOT START TRYING TO LOOKAHEAD WITHOUT KNOWING FULL F2L (aka 42 F2L cases). Trying to lookahead with intuitive F2L is useless. If you haven’t already, learn those cases.
also i have this as well (bruh why did i create so many guides)

Of course it's not needed, it's possible to be sub-10 without full OLL or PLL but if you are asking how to get faster, then you might as well learn them

true, it’s way better to learn algs sets ASAP so that you can fully focus on other things like lookahead and efficiency later, and on the way you are also improving your LL skills with each solve.

I felt an undiscovered emotion while reading that post

Yeah eventually solves will be one looked for sure, some kid will learn to one look F2L like Xuanyi sometimes can, and then they will start to learn to predict 1lll (which they will know) in inspection.
