Hey guys was just curious how many of us cubers play chess. Post your rating and your favorite game you’ve played as well as your global average. Also feel free to answer the poll so that future visitors to this thread can see it in an instant. (Rapid Rating Preferable)

one of my 2 biggest achievements in life is going from 100 elo to 1000ish elo in a span of 8 months

Honestly curious like what is the play like at 100 elo. Is it just like playing random moves? Just asking because after learning the rules I started at about 900 elo, so I don't really know. Also what is your other biggest achievement?

100 ELO today is peak chess and not actually bad at chess.

100 ELO 5 years ago was just random knight moves.

100 ELO is somehow the highest and lowest level of chess at the same time. Schrodinger's Knight Move (lol).

(i would like to add, that sleeping 12 hours a day is not my greatest feat; it'd have to be that time where I was playing pool and I pocketed 2 balls at once, the second being from a ricochet off the corner of the pocket.)

i just realised - i've beat the magnus bot before. sure, it was bullet with me timing him out, but a win is a win. i also realised I have not one, but 2 100% accuracy games (all won within the first 10 moves). and my highest accuracy game is a 96.2/95.8 or whatever, with 37 moves total (0 brilliants + 1 great + 23 best, '!' middle + endgame)

here's a link, i consider this to be my best game of all time, unless of course, I keep improving!

Wow! That is a perfec subject of discussion...
Many people here already love cubes.

Not just solving them—but learning a system, seeing patterns, and turning confusion into order.

So maybe some of you would enjoy trying something new—especially those who also play chess.

A few years ago I shared Rotosphere here. This time I’m back with a different project: CubeChess.

It’s chess played across the sides of a cube.

To make learning easy, when you select a piece the legal moves are highlighted, so you can understand the geometry quickly by simply playing.

A few rule notes:

  • same chess pieces
  • same movement rules
  • same goal: checkmate
  • castling still exists (just shorter)
  • en passant still works
  • pawns promote when they reach the middle of the opponent side (marked by colored barriers)

So this is not random “cube game” logic. It is real chess on a new board.

For cubers, some instincts may transfer naturally:

  • thinking in faces and edges
  • mental rotation
  • spatial pattern recognition
  • seeing relationships from multiple sides
  • comfort with structured systems

The platform now includes:

  • play online against other players through live presence
  • create a room and send an invite link to a friend
  • play vs computer
  • puzzles
  • freestyle setup options

Registering lets you begin building game history and saving games for later.

If anyone here enjoys cubes, chess, or elegant systems, I’d genuinely value feedback from fresh eyes.

CubeChess online platform

Some puzzles are solved by turning the cube. Others by moving the king.
