hello! i'm nick (he/him / they/them) but you can just call me mingus!!

i recently started cubing seriously in august of this year, and i went to my first ever competition in october! i mained roux for a while, then stopped cubing, then picked it back up in august. i then switched to cfce for a couple months and did two competitions with it. i now use petrus (sub-35 right now, mainly because i suck at 223/blockbuilding). petrus is really cool and my current favorite method.

i tried out APB for like a week or so when i got tired of cfce. i like the idea of super algorithmic methods like APB and mehta, but i'm just kinda bad at learning algs (it took me a week or so to learn OCLL and a couple days to learn all ) so it would take me a while to learn like EO/EOPair and LXS. but it's a neat method i think

i do 2x2, 3x3, pyraminx, and skewb. i have a clock and megaminx coming in the mail soon, so i may also do those but we'll see.
i currently average like ~6.4 for 2x2, like 7-8 seconds for pyra (i still use lbl but i should really learn l4e or something), and 9+ for skewb (i'm so bad at it, i rarely practice it and i have no idea how to fingertrick it but its fine)

i'm also learning squan (Lin has been nice), so that's pretty cool. just need to keep learning cubeshape...

learning all the algs for APB isn’t actually necessary
you can just learn the 11 EO algs then do BR par and LXS intuitively

well heres some things to note :

- EO pair isnt actually needed to get very good with APB, it only saves like 0.3 moves (if i remember right).
- ZBLL is needed in most methods now if you want to get really good, so if thats your plan then youll probably learn that either way
- I am averaging about 18-19s with the bare minimun of algs in APB (Full PLL, OCLL, 2 step LXS), and full LXS really can be kept away till sub 15.
