cubing clubs or groups at school are great. Im a student at Cal Poly Pomona and I actually have a cubing meetup tonight! There's always more cubers than you think, and all it takes is for one person to initiate. before you know it, there's at least ten people who still or used to cube, and it's always fun to have something in common with people you got to school with.

Someone struck up a conversation with me one time at school when he saw me cubing, and said that he used to average around 20 seconds before leaving cubing. So yeah, I have definitely seen more people cubing than I thought I would.

Yeah, I was shocked how most of the ppl in my club have actually competed before, some have even organized a comp before!

Wow, id love to organise a comp that isnt a forum comp(even of its just a school one)
There are ways to organise a competition. (I’m going to give general pointers on organising a WCA competition.)

From your WCA profile, I can see that you’re based in the UK. As the WCA organiser guidelines state, the more competitions you’ve been to before organising a competition, the better.

Going to multiple competitions helps you build up experience and an understanding of how they work, what makes a competition “good”, and can help you build a rapport with your local delegates.

As per the UKCA FAQ page, the first step is to find a suitable venue. Once you’ve found a venue that you think is suitable, put together a proposal and contact the UKCA.

TL;DR: organising a WCA competition takes effort, but is entirely doable, provided you’re willing to put in the effort required.
