CubeTeacher is located here: http://www.speedsolving.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10522

Would you buy it if it had:
  • COLL capabilities
  • Possibly a ZZ solver, ZB solver, etc..
  • User-defined algorithms (this is possibly the best addition to come, it will allow users to have multiple sets of algorithms and use your own algorithms to solve each situation)
  • A solve chooser (the solver generates thousands possibly tens of thousands of solutions for the current cube configuration. I'm planning to make a small dialog popup after the solutions are found, display a little summary of the solve (eg. 'Cross (3), F2L (15), OLL (6), PLL (0)' this would let you know that it is a PLL skip), then allow you to sift through them and pick one to execute)

The free version currently doesn't contain any of the above yet; however, when i do add the features, i'd like to know if people would buy it.

If you have any program additions that would help you consider buying the software, let me know (for example, "I would only buy this software if it had a petrus solver.")

If I were to buy it it would need solvers for more methods. Maybe Roux, Petrus, ZZ and ZB added. ZB should be easy as its not so much a method as a LL system.
A solve chooser would be great. Currently it does things there is no real way I could learn to do in speedsolving like inserting the first pair differently so that the third pair is easier.
Unless you add many new features I probably won't buy it.

no, and you probably wouldn't find many that would --an average cuber is about a high schooler, without a bank account, and with parents that are highly suspicious of internet money transfers.
I don't think you have a market here :)

It would need to run on Linux. And it should have install files, not just source files. I can never seem to install those. Or at least whatever its called that you add to the sources thing and then you can find it in synaptic or whatever package manager you use.
Or at least make sure it can run in Wine.

Okay. Thanks. Lol. I don't know too many terms. But I do know how to use everything. The only thing about Linux than I can think of that I don't know how to use is installing things from the source files.

Alright thanks very much for your feedback everyone. I suppose I'll leave it as free software and I'll continue adding on new features for everyone to use. However, I might get a little button in the program for donations through paypal if anyone decides that they feel especially kind.

In regards to the uses of the program, its not necessarily a 'Cube Teacher'. It is simply designed for you to have fun and find optimal Fridrich solutions. It can also help you to learn things that you can use for FMC competitions. I will add some algorithm accessibility so that users can input custom algorithms/scrambles/etc, that way it can also be used in a similar fashion to this online cube: http://cube.garron.us/tools/algsolve.php?alg=R. It is simply to help those visual learners out there.

I will get around to making some serious documentation on the actual software sometime in the near future. I will explain exactly how the program works and what each of the options do.

Is the source code available somewhere? I searched a bit but couldn't find it.

Well.. It is closed source. However, if you really are interested you can PM me and I'll send you some of the source. Please just let me know what your intentions with it are. FYI, it is extremely well commented code, but the complexity of the software makes it difficult for an outsider to understand whats going on. I am planning on writing some documentation for how the program works soon though. So just PM me and I'll let you take a look at some of the code.
