How many algorithms should you learn for F2L?

Hi there, I was wondering about how many algorithms you should learn for F2L. I have memorized the standard 48 cases for F2L. With good lookahead, I get around 12-15, but usually I average around 16. I am noticing that I rotate a lot due to me having to do F or B moves, and I because of that, my lookahead is constantly getting thrown off. Should I memorize all the algorithms I haven’t memorized from J-perms F2L PDF?

If you already detected a weak point, that is too many rotations, try to learn the cases that are slowing you down.

No need to memorize the entire j-perm f2l PDF, just the ones that involve rotationless inserts and tricks that can help with that problem

also only memorizing f2l algs is not enough, you should avoid rotations by picking cases wisely and influencing edges and next pairs. this can lead to better results than memorizing hundreds of algs. 48 algs is enough if you're smart with solving

watch videos on youtube about rotationless inserts and tricks, they can help a lot

Question: do you already know intuitive F2L?

How does intuitive become algorithmic?

It makes no sense in any perspective yo
Because once you are very used to solving a case it doesn’t matter how you originally learned it - you can trigger it without thinking (while looking ahead).

Personally, I learned all the F2L cases algorithmically but now I don’t really consider that I’m using algs as such - as I understand what’s happening to all the pieces (which furthermore allows me to use e.g. mirrors, edge control).

Make sense?

I’m actually considering switching to zz because of the oll cases
My advice: don’t. Easier to get faster with learning OLL than ZZ. Sure you get the benefit of only using 7 algs for OLL, but if you mess up and you don’t know the OLL then you have to adapt to that mistake. Also you have to learn to do EOCross and whatnot, which is good once you learn but takes a while to be fast with it in inspection and solving.

Use intuitive. I did algorithmic because I couldn’t teach myself intuitive. Yes it basically becomes muscle memory. Then when that’s mastered you can learn algs for bad cases or rotationless solutions

if you wanted to reduce OLL algs you could learn how to force good edge orientation during the LS.
Yh you can learn some wv, or even tho ive seen many people say not to learn this (e.g Jonathan Permutation) vhls.
For vhls Thats only assuming you dont know full oll since there are 32 cases i think.

guys is 2-look OLL not an option???? it’s usually just RUR’U’

you should probably know like all 42 advanced F2L then just experiment with how you could insert into the back then learn some more algs for harder cases. learn some tricks too like r’ U’ R U M’ which can be useful for expeirmenting.

F2L algs are so short that it basically starts to feel like it’s not an algorithm lol

2 Look is a option, but if anyone is going to use 2 llook (e.g me) you should know partial edge control too as it can save some time.
A bit random idk but :
Tbh not wanting to learn 1 look is why i learnt APB (yes ik theres way more algs in that but you can get decent without alot of them)
