Yiheng now has 3x3 Average and Single records. I was wondering. His speed, efficiency and lookahead push the limits of what can be done with CFOP. Will it take a ZB user to eventually catch up to and possibly beat him being there are advantages to ZBLS/ZBLL once you get past the astounding number of algs you have to learn? Just the fact that as times go down you're not as dependent on CFOP OLL/PLL skips to break records compared to ZBLL's lower inherent move count. Do you think in time Tymon, Xuanyi or Qixian will be able to catch him using ZB Method or is there still life in competitive CFOP?

I haven’t seen Yiheng use pseudo slotting in his solves yet, so i think there is still some room for improvement. But after that, i don’t see anything else that could improve his solves. ZBLL is probably going to take over, and combined with pseudoslotting, will probably take over the 3x3. However, I think CFOP is better than ZBLL in terms of single times. ZBLL seems more consistent compared to CFOP, as there are less skips in ZBLL.

Fair point and agreed that ZBLS to ZBLL has less skips but that's because at it's heart the main difference between the ZBLS/ZBLL & CFOP is that with CFOP you're thinking in terms of 4 Steps: Cross, F2L, OLL, & PLL, if you get lucky, either a OLL or PLL Skip. ZBLS/ZBLL once you get past the steep learning curve you're thinking in 3 Steps: Cross, F2L, & LL, so in a way it's automatically giving you an OLL or PLL Skip. If then there is a Skip with ZBLS/ZBLL theoretically that would mean Cross, to F2L and with a Skip that would be it. As I am at the very beginnings of my ZBLS/ZBLL journey, it would take Forum Members more well versed in ZBLS/ZBLL. My thought with Yiheng is besides experimenting with Pseudo Slotting and maybe being a little more efficient if that's possible, he has stunning TPS along with seeing far into a solve. To me that means you have to come at him with a whole new method with a lower move count which means a little older more seasoned Xuanyi, Qixian (aka: The ZB Kids) or more importantly, Tymon with his Pseudo Slotting into ZBLL to match or eventually beat Yiheng. All feel free to correct my theories.

ZBLL/ZBLS to me seems like PLL/OLL but just combined in one step. I kind of see it as shifting OLL and PLL backwards instead of completely finishing F2L. ZBLS is like OLL, and ZBLL is like PLL imo. ZBLL reduces the pauses for LL compared to CFOP with two pauses for recog. ZBLS at a high level doesn’t seem noticeable to spectators until you look at the solutions closely. Also, one alg for LL compared to two reduces the chances of lockups.

No but Yiheng is ending the dreams of many cubers

to be honest its just same
it needs time to recognize zbll, fastest is around 0.3 secs
but you know, the feeling when you know the case, of course i solve it with zbll alg.
not faster, but it helps if you know the alg.
