The 3x3 average is not “dead”. Nor is it for 2x2 or any other event. Just because someone is really good, doesn’t mean that he or she is unbeatable. Look back a decade or so ago, people thought Felik’s WR were unbreakable. They thought a sub-5 solve, let alone average, would never happen. The point is that someone is going to break all of these in the future. Just because you (not you in particular, I mean you as in plural) are not willing to put in the work to be that good, does not make the record impossible to break.
