NmeCuber's Progression Thread/21 Move FMC Single with Pure CFOP!!!

No, because it wasn't an FMC scramble (Starting with R' U' F and ending with F' U R), nor did you write down the solution.
It actually starts and ends in R' U' F
What purpose is the R U' F and F' U R? I didn't notice the difference.
The purpose is simply to make the scramble longer, because if the scramble is too short there is a chance that the scramble is (close to) optimal, and a good FMCer might accidentally find the inverse scramble as his solution and be disqualified. (Yes, a good FMCer would definitely notice it and hand in something else if there is time, but they would still have wasted a lot of time)

Several years ago there was an FMC WR which was disqualified because the solution was the inverse scramble (or at least started with it). I believe that was the incident which led to adding the R’ U’ F padding into scrambles, to prevent that from happening again.

That's interesting, but couldn't they simply make the scramble like 6-10 moves longer? Is there a reason for R' U' F?

My 3BLD pb single has also gone down quite a bit since the last update 4:24.20 --> 3:43.83 --> 3:19.06! I got the 3:19 in the weekly comp, so super happy about that!

You're catching up to me, 6.48, just half a second away!
Anyway, great job and that was a nice solution.

Which scramble I’m the weekly comp did you get a BLD PB in? I also got PB, but on the 1st scramble, so I’m wondering if you got that time on the first scramble as well. Also, great solve!

It was also the 1st one.

I only have 3 sub-8s, and one of them is sub-7 lol. I was just getting used to the sub-8 barrier when I got this insane solve.

So first of all, I got my 2nd sub-10 3x3 ao5

Guys, today I decided to switch to yau for 4x4 in place of redux finally. Less than 40 solves in and I already have a sub-1 single of 59.08 (For comparison my pb is around 50). I feel like it's a lot easier to locate edges for lookahead with yau.

Also, just got back from a week and a half vacation in South Korea and it was pretty fun! My family did a lot of sightseeing and I got this souvenir:

I really enjoyed watching the traditional dances and exploring the Gamchon culture village. I also learned to read Korean, so it was fun trying to read signs and see if it sounded like the English word

Just dropped my clock pb again, from 6.67 to 6.25
UR4+ UL3+ U5- R1- D1+ L4- y2 R2- ALL3- DL UL
the scramble is in essence the same as the 6.67 scramble in that there is 4 cross pieces aligned and 2 corners that get solved. I think this solve just had higher tps.
I also registered for Gaithersburg Back to School 2024 which has 2x2, 3x3, clock, and squan, so comp grind starting today 💪

Messed up first try(DNF), 5.48 2nd try but it wouldn't have been that fast as I already knew some of the solve. I average 11 lol, 6.2 first try is better than what I would have gotten for sure.

Mmmm it feels so good to finally beat my squan ao5 pb from april(?)
