Imagine a Rubik's cube but on every turn you do it makes a move on a second puzzle.

the two puzzles are connected in some sort.

is hard to imagine a physical version of this puzzle but a person could create a software for those types of puzzles, like this one I made

It connects a rubik's cube with a twizzle (aka ro puzzle) 3x3 grid.

how the 3x3's moves affect the ro puzzle grid:

try the sim here: (it has bluetooth support. tested with giiker i3s)

Simon Thatan's original Twizzle puzzle:

@Roman's Ro puzzle:

on Pcubes the "honey combs" 3x3 has Ro Puzzle as one of it's subsets (if you click on just a side)

So today I was thinking on an idea of a puzzle based on a NxN and with a bit of hypercubing

a NxN has 6 sides, but what if a cube had 7 sides, with one of them connected to the cube but in another dimension?

I thought of it simply as the 7th side occupying the same place of the F face but you can't always see it, but I don't know how the puzzle would be solvable, or how you could make it challenging

Love the idea. I might sketch something up tonight.

could it be like that 2x2/3x3 thing where the edges can't be seen?

that's one idea.

But I thought of something more disconected of our physics, so it could only be visualized in simulator

but there are lots of rooms for exploration

I thought about a cube where the 7th side would turn like this:
(There is already a puzzle that turns like this but I don't remember it's name)

the squares would do a 4-cycle rotation the same way a layer would turn

that is trippy lol. so this would still be a cube right? the extra side would have to be internal. also, F and B moves can's effect it so this puzzle will have to have an independent axis.

I think so

but that's just one idea, it could be developed other ways by using the idea "the F side is two sides at the same time"

and it could be internal or in another dimension :p

it could be flatland cube lol

This may or may not be helpful.

When working with a 5D theory in physics (i.e. Kaluza Klein theory), there are 4 orthogonal dimensions of spacetime and an extra dimension of space that is a circle. So this means that the 4 normal dimensions have parts of them that are at right angles to the 5th dimension and parts that are parallel. Then you can do some maths to see how certain quantities change with respect to rotations in the 5th dimension. I don't know if this is what you're getting at exactly, but it's an idea at least.

I made a sim here and tested it with bluetooth

gonna upload it later if any1 has bluetooth cube (giiker, go cube, rubiks connected... I think qiyi smart doesnt work with twizzle yet)

Thanks! I'm gonna meditate on this later! :D

I found how to flip each cell of the B square "inplace" by using a jperm with certain auf.

That make me think that this 1-9 number grid can lead to parity because 9 and 6 are identical lol

sorry for quintuple post, but I want to add a note here:

I think there is a LOT of room to exploration based on this idea of different puzzles connected together.

you can make a virtually infinite type of combinations of just the 3x3 and existing 2d puzzles by using the possible ways of moving the 3x3 layers to control the other puzzle.

with smart cubes you can make those types of interface and experiment

here guys, test it please

it's full of bugs and doesn't even has a scramble button yet

you can scramble and reset it now. gonna put keyboard support soon
sick! I'll test it out in a bit, I haven't used my smart gan 356 i in a while, so I'm charging it rn! I'll be sure to try it out in a bit!

I think I'll do it tomorrow, my cube hasn't charged that much so I can't use it, I'll leave it charging over night, it's also getting pretty late here, so I think I'm calling it a day

@FineGeoduck2211 have you tested it yet?

I just accidentally found out the name of the original puzzle. It's twiddle and it was created by Simon Thathan

you can find it here

@Roman created a version of it independtly called "Ro Puzzle"

sorry, not yet, I'm leaving for church and my gan isn't charging, I left it charging over night and something is wrong with it, I'll chck it when I get home (which might be later than usual cause it's Father's day and stuff) I'm not trying to make excuses, but like fr, my smart cube's battery is not working rn, I first have to fix that, and then hopefully I can test it, sorry for the delays
