Cubing Hot Takes, Opinions, and more!

[Garf]

When a known cuber starts getting fast in an uncommon event (like 5-bld for instance), everyone will probably start trying to do that event.

I'd say that clock and pyraminx are very overated, squan is next, then mega, then skewb.
So clock is very overated and skewb, despite me hating the event, is kinda underrated.

I agreed, until I realized I made it fun (for me at least) by doing an average of 5, with 5 different methods

I held a forum comp for that, it's pretty fun.

At beginner level Skewb is weird to turn and repetitive, which kinda turns you away from the event. It is probably more interesting at an advanced level, but I don't really like it.

Pyraminx is fun but easy. At least it isn't super repetitive like Skewb though. Tips make the event 10x worse.

I don't know much about Megaminx, but at my level it's just a big version of 3x3, which makes it a little dull.

I personally think Squan is very underrated. The shape shifting aspect is cool and it is something new. The time range is also good, not too long but not ridiculously short. Plus it's very fun to solve!

I don't do Clock but I don't really like how you can just learn one easy concept and then you can solve the whole thing. It's also not really a twisty puzzle.

Sorry it's finished. I might hold another though(and anybody else can hold one too)

4x4 is Luck Based

4x4 is Luck Based

You're saying it's luck based to what extent?

Im guessing the parities.

Like honestly parity can ruin your whole solve
+ If you make one mistake you can't fix it (if ur 5x5 centers are not great it's still potential for it to be good but 4x4 you have to solve perfectly)

That's why OPA (Oll parity avoidance) is a thing.

Too bad that’s not a thing for SQ-1.

CSP?

Here's a hot take:
The RS3 2020 sucks.

Also, if you do most algs rightly,
Do OLL Parity lefty. Just try it.

It’s actually kinda nice actually lefty OLL PARITY.

Wouldn't that require me to re-learn the OLL Party in order to adjust it for lefty turns?

[SpeakCuba]

CSP?

I've seen people using that and still getting parity.

If you don't know it already, then just learn the lefty adaptation. If you already know it, you can adapt it pretty easily.
