If a competitor drops out of a competition after few rounds without informing the delegate and/or organizer, it leads to several problems to the competition’s efficient running.
If a competitor drops out of a competition after few rounds without informing the delegate and/or organizer, it leads to several problems to the competition’s efficient running.
- In finals, the competitor’s name is called out only to realise they are not showing up, wasting precious time.
- The competitors name in the group will be called out. Although in practice the group is called out and not the participant’s name.
- During the prize distribution ceremony, the announcer has to call the no-show podium holder, leading to delay. Although this is not a problem as it is the last event of the competition.
- The competitor may have a genuine reason to skip some rounds of the competition.
- It is not the job of delegate to take action on no-shows. They already have a lot of things to delegate on the competition day.
- Makes cubing comps a less fun experience as there is a consequence to skipping rounds.
