Okay, so recently I had some cubing opinions that I wanted to just share. Everyone can write in this, although I may turn out to be the only person to type in this lol. I just had some opinions I wanted to share!
I'm gonna start with this:
Saving a free pair and solving a pair during cross is different. Saving a free pair is when you notice an F2L pair that is already solved in inspection, and figure out how to preserve it as you go, but here's where my opinion starts: Not all free pair preservations are free pairs. Let's say, you have a free pair that you notice is touching a cross edge you need to insert. Let's say, for the sake of the argument, that to preserve that free pair you do 3 unnecessary (unnecessary to just make a cross) moves. I do not think that that is a free pair preservation. I believe this because the bare minimum for an F2L algorithm's move count is 3. This is because you must turn a side, make at least 1 move to change the position of the pieces you want to make a pair with, and then you have to restore that side you turned to its former position (I may be wrong about the three move thing, but the point still stands I guess). I believe that because of the previously stated move count argument, you are not preserving a pair while making cross, you are just making a cross, as with these extra moves it becomes the same move count and will take the same amount of time as it would for any cross you made + a 3 move F2L pair, which makes me believe that you should not call this cross + free pair, but it should instead be called something like, "Cross + first pair."

I believe that Multi-slot algorithms have the best potential to revolutionize speedcubing. If someone could make an intuitive way to multi-slot or a way to decrease the algorithm count, it would be an absurdly big improvement on current methods. The algorithm count could be decreased by reducing it to similar to a free pair and a normal pair, like doing three moves in certain cases to minimize it to a better Multi-slot case. This could make F2L inspection easier, as less advanced people (like me) could instead of doing Cross +1, it could become Cross + 2. This could greatly reduce the time it takes to complete F2L, even if you merely reduce the move count using the possible method I have described.

3x3 is now entirely luck-based, and now joins 2x2 in the realm of speedy events.
i.e. I average about 17 seconds and my PB is 9 because of a lucky scramble.
I disagree, especially your use of the word “entirely”. I will agree there is a lot of luck, but people who average 13 seconds are going to do worse than people who average 8 seconds. I think the only luck based events are 2x2, Pyraminx, Skewb, and Clock

This is fair, but I still believe that it is. Yes, people are slower than others in 3x3. But this is the same with the other events you mentioned (2x2, Pyraminx, Skewb, Clock). I started out averaging around 30 seconds on Pyra when I did it. I still would get extremely lucky in this and 2x2 when I was bad at it.

I disagree. Yes, there is some “luck” as with any event, but it is not nearly as luck-based as 2x2 or skewb. For reference, I average 9.3 on 3x3 and my PB is just 8 flat. So it’s not really all that luck based, at least in my experience.

That seems really close together- is the 9.3 based on ao100 or closer to ao5?

Bro was averaging 10, 2 months ago. Seems sus

I’m gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and assume this is just an unfunny attempt to passive aggressively comment about how you don’t like people’s cheating accusations against you under the guise of a “joke”, rather than an actually serious allegation.

I supremely disagree with this opinion. You seem to base it on your own experiences, and even more than that, you base your opinion on a single solve you got. Luck is not a prime factor as it is a highly assisting asset. Luck is often not amazing, but when it is, it drastically makes your solves faster. This is probably why you got that nine, it was an extremely lucky solve, not just what is considered normal luck. If you got lucky, but not as lucky as you did, you would merely get a better solve than usual.

My bad haha
I've gotten a few 9s before
But my point is at this point, with all the efficiency boosts we've gotten from new things it just feels too luck based to me

It is an Ao100. It is really close together, it’s been like that ever since I averaged ~14 seconds. I’ve seen people who average 14 get a 7 before, but I haven’t quite yet.

I’ve gotten a 7.7x solve a few weeks ago but I +2ed it. Had a bunch of PB fails too, but other than that I haven’t broken the sub-8 barrier yet.

Multi Blind top 100 is harder than 3x3 top 100. I think people might agree with me on this, but for those who don't, I believe this because Multi Blind is based on a different set of skills that are less common for people to have. This makes it more difficult for any old Joe (nothing against people named Joe) to get a top 100 result.
