Hey guys, I have actually been posting pretty consistently on my YouTube channel, so I figured now would be a good time to actually start a thread for myself. Welcome to my channel, Algorithmically Puzzled. I have been mainly been doing unboxings, but going forward I am going to also try and do reviews, solve challenges, and maybe some fun programming videos relating to cubing if I can find the time.

I have been wanting to give back to this community that I have been apart of for so long. Since I can't provide fast new algorithms, fancy finger tricks, or innovative new methods, I have decided the best way is through giveaways, which I will be doing bi-weekly on my YouTube channel. With all that being said, please enjoy my first video, an unboxing and giveaway of the new MoYu RS3M 2021 Maglev 3x3. Going forward, I will probably try and do mostly gift card giveaways that way I am not limited to the U.S. due to shipping, and most regions of the world have their own cube shop. Enjoy.

I appreciate your channel. Giveaways seem silly to me so idk if they are how I would give back to the community tho.

Hopefully one day I will be less busy and be able to give back by hosting a competition, becoming a delegate, or helping the WCA in other ways, but for now, giveaways are nice and easy. I think anything that gets more puzzles into the hands of cubers that might not otherwise be able to get them is a good thing. Plus they are fun.

One of the first things I noticed about the RS3M 2020 is the friction and spring noise from springs. Maybe this one out of the box is better. I like the way it sounds.

After setting up my 2021 with weight 5 on the core and dnm-37 on the pieces it is considerably better than the 2020 version. The magnets feel slightly stronger but I would still want to add the additional magnets for sure. I am not exactly sure if the maglev system is doing anything, but the 2021 version definitely feels more stable and has a lighter turning feel. That being said, although it is still a budget puzzle, it is almost twice the price of the previous one, so I would except some significant improvements.

Quick Thanksgiving/black friday update:

Good: spent about $300 on cubes between the cubicle and cubezz. Maybe I'll actually do an unboxing.

Bad: family house caught fire right at the start of dinner.

How you say that so calmly, i do not know. That's really awful news and i hope everyone is okay.

How... Did ur house catch on fire?
Seems like it started towards the top of the fireplace.
That's awful. Is everybody okay?
Yup! Everyone got out, including the two dogs.

Yes, it was certainly surreal. Luckily it happened during dinner and not late at night so everyone was able to get out quickly.

Nice! Unrelated, but I looked at your WCA profile, and wanted to ask; are you going to compete again anytime this/next year?

Thanks! I hope to compete in at least 3 competitions this year, schedule dependent. I am currently signed up for my first, which would be 'Its About Time Bloomsburg' in April.

Did my first 3D print! I chose a 1x4x4 that someone had designed and uploaded to Thingiverse. Pretty happy with how it came up, but will probably keep fiddling with the settings over the next few days.

Awesome! Wow, the resolution of your printer is very high especially for such a large printer. What was your layer height at? Also, have you assembled it yet? Very cool!

layer height was set to 0.20mm, though today I have been messing around with changing to 0.16mm. It is not cubing related, but I just finished printing this at the lower layer height. Haven't gotten around to assembling it yet, but will try and get around to cleaning up the pieces, getting the 4mm screw I need, and convincing my wife to print out the stickers for it on her Cricut machine.
