Mega is easy to pick up. Make sure to do slow solves as well as timed solves, and implement what you learned in slow solves into fast solves. Otherwise, you learned nothing.

It's pretty easy once you get the basics down.
I'd recommend learning the basic epll algs for that step and using commutators for the corners
so basically, ll would look like this: eo, co and ep with algs, and cp with commutators
The reason why you solve ep before cp is just to make things easier with your life. I don't know anyone who does cp before ep in megaminx.
