Yiheng's Mom slapping Yiheng in Public

domestic violence/parental abuse?

you do need sufficient evidence though which is unlikely as you mostly only see him in comps
+ you do need to secretly examine him without his parent noticing which is more unlikely to be possible to do.

and also, punishment?????? sorry but i dont get the idea. punishment for me is discipline. its when you do something WRONG. so if playing a cube and making it solved, but you still took "long", you will be punished? doesnt make sense.

this is more of prespective kind on what you see it as

from my prespective i see the parent does the wrongdoings, but if its for a dumb reason and does not apologise, and its repeated, i think some legal action is needed.

the child obviously cant do anything to help, so its basically on us to help him. Either leave him or help. Choose your path. (okay not gonna be too dark). Anyway, yeah its basically the parents fault and the child cant really do anything about it.

although if you leave him, when he grows up, i think he could do something about it (probably 13 yrs or so) but its gonna take a few years
It isn’t proven the he got slapped for getting a slow solve.

thats the thing. if we can get the chance, we could be able to prove these "accusations" true
I believe a mom can do anything with there child, they conceived them then Held them in her womb for 9 months then gave birth to the child. Nearly a 1 year effort just so the law chooses what they can do with them.

not really, if a parents get arrested they cant do anything about their child. Although the legal system path isnt the best either. It can leave an impact on the child. Especially emotional. So thats my take

either way, the 2nd path (letting yiheng grow up) also results in the same result as path 1 i stated (parent getting arrested, emotional harm).

so there isnt really anything we can do

I highly doubt his mom will get arrested for slapping him in public. Even if you do do more investigating, it seems far fetched that legal action can be pursued anytime soon.
Also, I am less concerned about the slap itself then the fact that when she was in public, knowing she was being watched, she was unable to restrain herself, suggesting that this is possibly a habit she has developed.
But I do have to agree we still do not have that much evidence that Yiheng's mom is a horrible parent. It is obvious that slapping you child in public is wrong, but in Chinese culture it is a bit more common than in the US.

The guy that recorded this video must have had some vendetta with Yiheng’s mom because nobody in their right mind would record someone getting slapped

what should we assume for now then
should we assume that mom only punished him a few times
or
should we assume that she is continuously punishing him until now

(probably first choice for now)

Honestly, we should've not made this thread anyway.

This stuff happens all the time, especially in Asian culture. Why are we delving into private matters that, in some ways, might not take a good direction anyway? It's not that someone would fly to China just to talk to Yiheng's mother about this, right? Slaps and punishments are common in an Asian household to discipline a kid, and ok fine, I know that it may seem "harsh" and "abusive", but our mothers are doing this for the better of their child. In the end, they are the most supportive kind of people to exist on this planet. How would I know this? During my last official competition in Bahrain, my mom went to Pakistan for a week or two. When my mom told my relatives about me going to a competition, they called and wished me the best. They were updated all the time and were the proudest people on Earth when they found out I was in the second round (mainly due to patriotism because I was the only Pakistani as their nationality lmao). So you see, Asians might be "extreme", but we do this for the better good of our future generations.
