My philosophy is this: would you accept someone hitting their spouse in the same way? No? Then why are you OK with a child having LESS protection than an adult? It makes no sense.

I agree.
If you hit you SO(significant other), it would probably be considered "domestic abuse"
But if you hit your kid, grandkid, neice, nephew, etc., it would be considered as disipline

I don't know man... you don't know how scary it is. even I don't know the full feeling. nothing can be done to shame yiheng's mom else yiheng will feel the brunt of it.

his entire family and everyone around him will treat him differently. I have family members from long ago that were disowned, abandoned, etc. for bringing the public eye against their family. the hitting and scolding is nothing unfortunately. there has to be another route.

hitting a child at home to discipline them is acceptable but in public is completely intolerable.

I wasn’t trying to make fun of Yiheng’s mom beyond “don’t hit your kids, that’s bad” the graphic was just kinda meant for comedic effect. Also, there’s an almost 0% chance Yiheng or his mom will see my video, or care about it if they do. (Does Yiheng’s mom know English?) I’m not disagreeing that, if Yiheng’s mom were to see my video AND care, it’d suck for Yiheng, and I’d feel bad for that, but I feel like whatever Tangled Cubing (the guy who said Tymon was bullying Yiheng) would make a video 10x worse than mine could ever be.

Yiheng's mom isn't just a "tiger mom". In the first ML match between Tymon and Yiheng, his mom was honest and made sure that Yiheng's bad timer stop was counted (even after the match ended). I just think it's too early to draw any real conclusions from what we know, and it's generally not a good idea to draw attention to private matters (even if the infamous slap was in public)

Now that I’m rewatching the video, it’s so pixelated, are we even sure it’s Yiheng? I’m mostly sure but it’s kinda hard to tell for 100% certainty that it’s him

tbh, I am guilty of laughing at the thumbnail. I tried to suppress it... that look on a chinese woman's face is both funny and freakishly scary to me. the thing is, is that we don't know whose going to see the vid. we don't know. that video isn't even yours anymore now that it's officially on the internet. but yeah, I doubt that his mom will see it but i don't know. don't worry about it dude. your cool.
