Should the tos age be lowered

Ok I just looked at the tos and I saw the age requirement is 8 years old but what about the under 8 year old Chinese Cubers where do they go. They need a place to post there 3 second 3x3 solves. So should pkj lower the age restriction?

No, just because they are good at solving cubes does not mean they are good at posting times about them, and socialize with other people.

Yeah, to at least 10 maybe. It’s not discord where you can hop into sketchy servers and stuff, the forums are quite safe, so it does not need to 13, might be too high. But I can’t imagine a 8 year old on the forums. To young for them.

Having a tos age is for their safety, nobody knows if someone on this forum is secretly a predator or something and is waiting for a young person who he likes

Great point, it's for their safety.
Yeah, if some five year old finds a way to get on this forum on his/her own then wow, but I honestly think that their parents would be the one making the account for them (like a lot of us on this forum). I think that the parent has a duty to protect their child of such a young age before allowing them to converse with strangers on an online platform. If a speedcuber is so young and so good, they don't need a forum for publicity. I definitely would think about raising the bar to 10 yrs old, the time when kids have had enough experience interacting with people and being able to differentiate from good and bad.

As others have said, there is an age restriction on the site to protect kids. There are dangerous people on the internet. If the age restriction is too low, young kids will fall victim to these dangerous people.

This forum also just isn't meant for people under 8 anyway. It would be very hard for them as their social skills are not as developed as most others on the site.

I would even say that we should raise the age limit, as 8 is a very young age for people to be on this site.

I kinda agree but different kids learn at different ages ex: me who learned to differ good from bad thru trial and error or some other kid who has lived a sheltered life and would happily get free robux from a mysterious website that required your address.

Yeah, that was my WCA forums mindset taking it seriously and stuff. I am on there every day almost. Considering that it is the only cubing communication that is not blocked in my school, I spend a lot more time than I need to on there posting and reading stuff.

While this post may have been made in a joke way, it was beneficial in bringing to attention the minimum age for the website. While I was aware it was 8, I did not really think of what it could mean or its implications. As @1x1 wr holder! said, it was a good and productive post.

In my opinion, a minimum of at least 13 would make the forum significantly higher quality. However, because of how many individuals on the forum younger than that, it would also decrease the active member-base quite a bit, which isn’t particularly large to begin with, so it may not be able to survive through that.
