The United States School Cubing League

[Running for cube]

Hello fellow Speedsolving members,

I would like to take a little time and tell you about the United States School Cubing League (USSCL for short). This is an organization that me and some other cubers began for the 2023-2024 school year.

The USSCL's main vision is to create a future of fun, enjoyable teamwork in school cubing. This league will encourage cubing clubs, expand the growth of cubing, and bring more light to team cubing.

Format:

• This is a 1v1/relay style competition. We are branching this league different from the WCA, and are in no way affiliated or in contact with them.
• Schools can apply for the league in this form here. Filling this form out does NOT guarantee that your school will be added into the league. This is just an interest form to see how many schools roughly might compete.
• This is a virtual style competition. While not as enjoyable as in-person competitions, we don't see travel could be viable for this style of a competition. The competition will either take place over Zoom or Google meets.
• This is a U.S. only competition. We would like to expand in the future, but time zone differences don't make that viable for now.
• You can read more about the format on the format page of our website, liked at the bottom.

Delegating:

• Delegates are assigned by schools, contact someone on our website below if you would like to become a delegate for a school in your area.
• Delegates across multiple schools are responsible for agreeing on when a competition will start and end, and what day it will take place on (the USSCL will provide a general date, but if you want to schedule it a different day near then, contact us).
• Delegates are responsible for issues that come up during the competition (if we find their ruling to be unjust, we can still overrule it).
• Delegates are responsible for cheating/disqualifying someone (with a reason/reasons why).

Registration:

• Each school has to pay a registration fee (exact fee hasn't been determined yet).
• This registration fee will cover awards and equipment costs (we are working to get a sponsor for a discount code, sorry slight typo on this page, I will fix that).
• You can read more about this and the whole system on our website.

Sounds cool, but a registration fee might be the determining factor on whether many schools join or not (including mine).

I’m one of the people who is co-founder of the league, we do not expect the registration fee to be very much probably in the range or about $20.

Hey guys, if anyone else is still interested in signing up, we are working on getting a sponsor and have created a discord for usscl delegates. If anyone else is interested, we already have 30 schools! Make sure to sign the interest form if you think you may be interested! https://forms.gle/N8kE4FNgmpK7SQFz7

Hey speedsolving members, if you signed the interest form for USSCL, please check your email. We have a lot of people who haven’t joined our official google chat space. It’s a place you can ask questions and make recommendations about the USSCL for our eyes to see.

Thanks.

I'm not in the USA so I've not joined but this sounds like a cool idea. Best of luck!!

Someone is in progress of contacting Happyftproductions to stream it, so you may be able to watch! We also may post clips on the USSCL Youtube channel.

We have a teaser trailer out for the Usscl!

Pretty cool, I was looking for something like this for a while. 3BLD could be cool to add though.

The directors and delegates have considered it, it would be cool but would be hard with the H2H format in the usscl

Are only schools allowed? Not regions or local cubing clubs? (emailed my question)
