hi ive been having trouble getting sub 50 constantly. i often get 50's and my pb is an unlucky 44.66 im useing fl2, 2 look oll, and some whacked out version pll where i set it up so that i have one of the three edge cycles. i was wondering what i should do to get sub 50 .

and sorry if im kinda noobish but id just like to get better thats all

kk im going to time my f2l. its intuitive too so i dunno if that makes a ifference

edit: my last one was 36 sec

I'd say you should learn enough PLLs to have a true 4 look last layer at this point and not a "whacked out PLL". It's only a total of 7 PLLs, so it's not too bad.

Working on your F2L is always good of course.

If you're already doing a real 4 Look Last Layer (2 look OLL and 2 look PLL), then I'd say it's time to start learning the rest of your PLLs.

Brian.

Just keep practicing. Practice slowing down and looking ahead and you'll get there. If you want to focus on something, I'd suggest working on your f2l. Learning all 21 PLL's will help also.

i will try to slow down and look ahead and fix my whacked pll f2l is now roughly 30-35 secs.
edit. why is memorizing algs so difficult!!!!! can anybody help me with memorization

TO LEARN AN ALG
(by me)

1. Practice
2. Practice more
3. Practice even more
4. Try it
5. Try it again
6. Practice more
7. Practice even more
8. Try it again
9. Try it again
10. If you still don't know it, go to step 1
11. You're done!

fix your pll so it's not "whacked."

yeah. fix that pll.

other than that, just practice. i was stuck in the same place you are not too long ago, and these are the things i had to work on most:

1) being able to fully memorize cross
2) look-ahead during F2L
3) quicker recognition during LL (this can only come through practice)
4) fingertricks

--- additional note: if you aren't using a properly lubed DIY, you should start using one at this point. storebought cubes don't do the trick for most people. I use a puzzleproz (ebay) type A with puzzleproz's silicone lube.

to aid with memorization:
understand first of all that everybody's brain is different. there is no universal method for memorizing stuff. because of this, i always develop personal mnemonics for each algorithm. if i can't think of one, i see if badmephisto has one on his site*. if he doesn't, refer to byu's method (above.)
