I don’t think it’s appropriate to discriminate cubers who do not have English as their mother tongue. I am half Japanese born in Hong Kong and I know multiple languages. English is just one of them. Studying in the top University in Hong Kong, I’ve no problem communicating with foreign professors, group mates and cubers. I even got my GAN Skewb signed by RuiHang Xu at a local comp lately by engaging with him in Mandarin. And I’d like to ask: how many languages do you know?

Was it at the Hk Cube Day 2023?

Yea, but actually English is the first language I had first learnt when I was small, just that I know multiple languages apart from English as well. Actually the spoken language here in Hong Kong is called Cantonese which is very different from Mandarin in China. Most Chinese do not speak Cantonese while not many Hong Kong people can speak Mandarin. I can speak both fluently and I even know some Malaysian Cantonese as well as a bit of Indonesian (and actually the only Indonesian cuber in that comp is from the same University as me). Knowing multiple languages apart from English actually gave me lots of opportunity like I asked other cubers in their language and got my hands on the YS3M before it was even released. However, it was funny that my Pyraminx judge thought that I'm pure Japanese who can't even speak English, and they even explained to me about my Pyraminx +2s in Japanese😂
