I thought you were talking about Zayn. anyway some people like 2x2 because they like events based on TPS and inspection usage.

I was talking about zayn . I was saying that at the beginning of his 2x2 journey, why would you want to main such a luck based event. Also, thanks for your reasoning.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'll shared my thoughts as I would consider 2x2 to be one of my better events (it's the event I'm officially ranked highest in). I like learning algorithms, so I liked practicing 2x2 as there was an easy and straightforward way to improve (learning algs). At some point I got a really lucky average officially (was 5th in my country), so I was more motivated to practice it.
I think people are generally drawn to events they see the most improvement/success in (which is often related to which events they naturally enjoy). Zayn seems to be somewhat of an all-rounder, so he was probably learning 2x2 algs to improve his times event when it wasn't his main event. At some point he realized he had potential in the event, at which point it became his main event.
I don't see why luck-based events are necessarily less interesting, either. If anything I would think it's more addictive since you could get a really good single/average officially even if you aren't as fast globally and in general there's a bit of a gambling-like thrill to it.

I like both 2x2 and MBLD, arguably the most and least luck based events. I don't think 'luck based'-ness should be a factor in whether or not you like the event.
