Handicapped Elimination Challenge - March 2023

This is a new style of forum competition, similar to a typical last man standing comp. However, you will be handicapped based on how well you went in the previous round. Rounds continue one a week until the last two competitors are reached, who then face off in a NON-handicapped ao5.

For example:
In a round with 10 competitors, you will complete 5 solves. The slowest person will be eliminated, leaving 9 competitors. The 3 who scored the highest in the round have the mean of their worst 3 scores counted next round, the middle three competitors have the mean of their middle three scores taken (typical ao5), and the worst three have the mean of their best scores taken in the next round.

Trust me, that sounded a lot better in my head than it does here.

  • An event needs at least three competitors to go ahead
  • Suggestions are appreciated but will only be added if they are sensible
  • Despite this, a suggestion does not have to be a puzzle
  • 1x1 is not allowed because of the intense difficulty and the fact no-one can solve it in a week.
  • A DNF/no submission is eliminated. If two people DNF in one week the competition jumps forward a week.
  • If you have a legitimate concern with my calculations, DM me and I will have a look

Most WCA puzzles are included + mirror blocks, plus competitor suggestions.

You have two weeks to enter, ending at midnight 22 February AEDT.
There will then be a week to enter additional suggested events. The competition will start 1st of April GMT (or thereabouts, school permitting).

DM me for any changes in submissions or if the form doesn't work etc.

please help my selfesteem, this was too hard

Okay, so if I win in mega in the first round, would I have to solve with one hand? Or feet (pls no)?

I registered! My only issue with this comp is that I only want the challenges to be reasonably challenging. My point is right now I average Sub-3.5 for Skewb and lets say everybody averages under 15 seconds. If the challenge was solve with feet, I definitely can't solve it under 15 seconds, so I'll be eliminated.

Oh! So if I do way better than everyone else in mega, then you will include my worst solve in the average. Is that what you are saying? Or the 3 worst solves to determine an average?
3 worst solves
Or you can just throw and purposefully get a terrible average xD
The only trouble with that is if you end up last😋

And something else: don't say how well you went on this thread because that's just a benchmark for everyone else and it will make it interesting.

With your nose.

Looks like all events are going ahead apart from bld, kilo and clock are going ahead. Dunno how people like @Clock_Enthusiast feel about that
