I am possibly organizing a WCA competition and would like to hold Team Blind. What is the best way (format, regulations, etc) to do it?

One person would have to be BLD, the other has to be 2 feet from the competitor, and that other person cannot interact with the other person physically. BO3 format would sound best for this event. As for registration, you might have to do a google form that includes who the two competitors are. If they don't have anyone to pair with, you will pair them with another random person that also doesn't have a second person to compete with.

I think done right, an average of 5 could be really cool. I feel like for people who aren't experienced with team bld, there are certain pairs that are easier to call than others, and this could cause a huge time difference between solves. For example, calling the LL as "Sune, T perm" is a lot faster than saying, "2x2 yellow block with bar in the back, worse n-perm, U2." That being said, having a full Ao5 even with a cutoff seems pretty time demanding.

Traditional would be average of 5, although a cutoff could be practical.

I would recommend also placing competitors on the opposite sides of tables, as this is probably more viable to making it an eventual official event than the same side of the table. I'd like to see more competitions trying that out.

wat?

that way is harder to identify the cases, I think side by side or behind the solver is the best

What is your reasoning?

If anything, it should get *easier* to identify cases, since you can see more of the puzzle without being blocked.
It might get harder to *call* the cases, but that is a matter of practice, and you get instant feedback if your communication didn't work.

I know it might not be as fun as calling from the solver's perspective, but I'm fairly convinced this is the best way to get fair, practical results with a sight blocker.

I just think that because it is a different angle to identify from the normal solving. just because of that

but who am I on the line to the bread after all?
