[WR] Max Park - 6.20 OH single

I've said this again and again: just because someone broke a world record with a certain method doesn't mean that that's the best method. Roux is 100% going to break the OH records someday, and what are you going to say then? "Hey guys, I've changed my mind, Roux is much better than CFOP and will always be the best method for OH"
Agree and disagree-ish. I totally agree with you on the fact that WR doesn't determine the best method. But in favor of @mencarikebenaran 's argument, it is very difficult to deny that CFOP is a 'good' OH method given it's excellent results. There is still a popularity/development bias to consider tho. A counterpoint in favor of Roux, empirically speaking, is the fact that all of the current UWRs are held by Fahmi who uses Ro(h)ux. Also, in general, I don't really think there will ever be a 'best' method but rather will be best methods. For OH specifically I think LEOR, ZZ, and YruRU are/will be excellent and competitive methods.

I agree, although I wasn't saying CFOP isn't a good method. I'm just saying Roux could be faster and more efficient, and CFOP won't always be the best method.

it is impressive, but it was a misscramble
It was still almost a full step solution except for the last layer where he did a COLL (if I remember correctly). And I think that regardless, a scramble is a scramble, so in my eyes the miscramble factor doesn't take away any appreciation and respect for his solve.
Edit: Oh, and Felik's wasn't using modern cubing hardware and innovation that today's cube have. This was 7 years ago!

Iirc it was only the last move being R instead of R’, or something along those lines. It made very little difference.
Just a rumor, but I've heard that there exists some kind of software that searches misscrambles off by 1 move to find a scramble with the easiest start. Apparently the scramble for 6.88 looked like something generated from software like that, meaning there is a possibility someone intentionally did a seemingly innocuous misscramble to make an easy scramble.

In any case, I'm glad that the WCA seems to be a lot stricter on misscrambles now, it's always a bad feeling to have asterisks beside WRs. It was a bit sad for Max's 6.44 single a few years back, but now he's finally beaten it!

The WCA has not really changed its policies around misscrambles. Max's 6.44 was replaced because an extra was available. Feliks' 6.88 was discovered after the competition and the WRC deemed that the scramble was similar enough to the original one that they allowed the solve to stand. This is still the standard today - if a provisional extra is available for an incident such as a misscramble, it often will be used. However, if one is not available, so long as malice is not present and the scramble does not provide any extroadinary degree of advantage the misscramble will often be used.
