I am getting a 4x4 soon, but I have a question about it. My sister keeps asking me for a 4x4, (she doesn't know how to solve any cubes yet) but I was going to suprise her with it, but i have the fear she will scramble it (I only know how to solve 2x2 and 3x3) and I will never solve it . Or i will just show her and tell her to never scramble it. So, what do I do? Risk it getting scrambled or just show her? Help!

Learn how to solve it.

J-perm has a really good tutorial for 4x4. I would actually recommend www.cubeskills.com for their tutorial on redux, but I learned Yau from J-perm's tutorial.
You are probably going to use Yau in the future anyway, so start there and begin building good habits.

If you know how to solve a 3x3, you can already solve a 4x4 minus the 2 parity algorithms you will need to learn (and one of those only takes a minute to memorize because it is short and repetitive). Center building and edge pairing will be intuitive after watching a few examples of how its done. If you are buying a 4x4 you might as well learn to solve it.

“The only reason you learned how to solve a Rubik’s Cube, is because you saw one scrambled.”

-Confusious or something…
