Hi speedcubers! I am relatively new to cubing and I keep running into one problem when solving for the second layer. as I am a beginner I followed the video by WIRED on YouTube about how to solve it. I can solve the whole cube but the second layer every time I run into issues. If the sticker on top of the top middle cube matches with the left side and I follow the algorithm for that it keeps undoing and never solves until I mess around with it until it’s on the right and do right triggers throughout that stage. Is there something I'm missing? Bc it's really frustrating me I've been at it for weeks and can't figure it out and the video doesn't explain that this happens it said it should work but it doesn’t. Can anyone help me with this please I’ll be very grateful! Thank you.

Are you sure that the alg you're using for left side is the same you use for right side but mirrored to the left? Otherwise it doesn't make sense to me.
Or perhaps you're keeping the piece on the left even though it goes on the right.

Can you post an image with the starting position? Even better would be if you could post a video of yourself attempting this algorithm, and then showing us why it doesn't work. I'm sure we would be able to tell you decisively what's going on if you could do that. But it's hard to diagnose from your description.

Here's an alternative approach to the problem:
Do the exact reverse of the move-sequence the video describes, and see where the middle-layer edge-piece ends up on the top layer, paying attention to the orientation. You now know what 'starting state' the puzzle needs to be in for the video's solution to work correctly.

Armed with this knowledge, you should be able to choose which strategy is needed to solve the middle layer piece, and what pre-move is needed in preparation for that solution.

Hi bulkocuber after reading what you said I made the error of rotating it to the left instead of the right for the left trigger move, I can’t believe i didn’t think of how a left trigger was everything mirrored instead of just up, switch and down on the left side 💔. I also managed to
find another way of doing this which is to pretend the stickers on that top middle cube are switched, then carry on as if it matched the right when it matches the left, and rotating the cube to displace wrong pieces using the right trigger not the left! But that way is very time consuming and nowhere near the correct way so thank you. Can’t believe how it’s been weeks and I didn’t even think of that!

Hi Tyson thank you as it’s been solved!
