Hi Everyone,

I've always have loved problem solving and puzzles, and was naturally drawn to the Rubik's cube. Came across the cube as a kid, and was obsessed with solving it for about month. 4 years ago I bought one as an adult and relearned how to solve it- I was teaching an after school "math games" class and a lot of my students were playing with it! Their passion reminded me of how much I loved it myself. The cube I bought went missing soon after and I hadn't solved it since then, but I was inspired to buy a new cube and relearn again!

Really enjoying just solving the cube, right now my solves are about 2 minutes long, give or take 30 seconds, using the beginners method. I've been watching tutorials on solving from cubeskills.com and my next goal is to optimize the beginners method and learn a couple new algorithms for the last layer. Aiming to get around a 1 minute average using the beginners method!

Here's a video I made of a solve using my new cube!

These days I am solving just for the fun. I was a top level Tetris player back in the day and was sucked into improving and always needing to get better and better. I had a lot of fun, but it's taught me to have my primary focus just to be enjoying the learning process.

Here's a video I made back in the day of me and my old personal Tetris record. Was good enough to be top 50 back then, but now I'm probably barely top 200 after not playing for years.

I also love chess, epic fantasy books, and anime. Looking forward to being a part of this community!

Welcome Jordan! It's always nice to see people pick back up their passion for cubing. There are some "advanced" methods for the 3x3, CFOP being the most famous, and others like Roux, Petrus, and ZZ. Roux is more intuitive, meaning you have to think more instead of depending a lot on algorithms, and you like problem-solving, so maybe look into it once you feel comfortable with beginners.

I love Cheez-its, and I'm watching S4 of Aot. Do you like either of these?

Welcome Jordan! I also used cubeskills.com

Thanks for the welcome everyone! Yeah I've been loving cubeskills- super straightforward and makes it very easy to learn. Was planning on learning CFOP after the beginners method because there are tutorials for it on cubeskills, but I'll have to check out roux method as well!

Hello there and welcome back to cubing!

Yo!!!!

My grandpa would bring a box of cheez-its every time we'd go fishing and I'd usually down the whole thing haha- so that's a yes! I watched the first season of attack on titan and was super sucked in, I'm guessing at some point I'll catch back up and finish the series too! My favorite anime/manga of all time is probably Hunter X Hunter, and I liked Fate/Zero a lot too- here's my MAL profile, although it's been a while since I've been on there

I'll have to check out Roux for sure after I finish the beginner level modules on cubeskills.com, thanks for the info!

Welcome! I learned a lot off cubeskills, but I have since changed to Jperm’s website for learning algs. Maybe try checking it out. There is also a Cfop, 2x2 and 4x4 tutorial if you want to expand a little bit.

Definitely interested in learning beginner methods for 4x4 and 5x5 down the road. Still deciding if I want to learn CFOP before or after I check out roux. Right now aiming to be a well rounded cuber, would be cool to be sub 40 with roux, CFOP, and to be able to solve 4x4 and 5x5. Cool to see Jperm has a website I didn't know about it but have loved watching a couple of his videos the past couple days.
