Hello, I am really bad with f2l. My average for f2l is 18 seconds which I know is horrible. My overall average is 35 seconds and I know I can chip away time from F2L. I've been just scramblig my cube do the cross slowly without putting and pairs in and then just do my f2l. So I'm basically just repeating solving f2l with the intuitive method over and over again. What should I do? Just continue or do something else? Thanks.

EDIT: Better idea

I would say in this stage you need to learn better solutions to each case. you can always improve your solving technique.

as you know intuitive F2L, I would suggest you go one by one each of the f2l cases and try to solve them to see which ones you have most difficulty solving. that helped me cut time of my f2l when I averaged the same of you.

Use this page to get access to the cases:

Then use this tool to reverse a case so you can apply the reverse move on your cube to have the setup, and you can try your solution

then do the setup again and apply the solution of the page trying to track the pieces and understand the alg until you memorize it. this can take a while so be patient

focus in being able to solve each case in 2 to 3 seconds or less including recognition

Like Llewelys said, you can watch videos (Jperm, CubeSkills, CubeHead), and find the most efficient way to solve a pair. It's essential that you reduce the number of rotations in your solve. For reference, most (if not all) of the times, a pair can be solved in 1 or 0 rotations, so we're talking no more than 3-4 for the entirety of F2L.

I had a better idea, just try to drill those cases using Tao Yu's trainer

select F2L ... you can deselect the box "use real scrambles" for shorter scrambles

EDIT: There is also this trainer, use the one you like the most -> http://speedcubedb.com/t

when you know all your cases inside out, THEN, AND ONLY THEN, try to focus on reducing rotations.

for that, feliks video might help

good training!

Thanks everyone, I think my main problem is turning to look for the edges which match with the corner piece. Never tried those trainers and never really been interested in example solves but i'll start to check those out now. Thanks again. :)
