I'm going to at least be Dual Color Neutral

Nice! I am duel color neutral as well, (white and yellow), but yellow is a little bit slower. And also, please try to post this in a mega thread or something instead of creating individual threads : )
Your not dual colour neutral if white is better than yellow. Colour neutral means that you are just as good on every colour. Dual colour neutral means that you are just as good on two colours. Also if your wondering why I'm writing colour not color it's because I'm from England.

I didn't think I could do it because every time before I attempted solving on a different cross color, I felt like a hog on ice.

I recently started doing a yellow cross(normally white on bottom, cfop 3x3)

I'm actually getting better at yellow now... Not near white but getting better.

Yellow of course is easier than another color because it's whites opposite.

I'm going to attempt another color. If I can do, say orange, I think I can get them all.

I don't know how much if will help, but bad crosses bother me, and I think 6 choices would help me.

It's a long road, but if nothing else, I'll at least come out with a dual color neutrality.
I never knew this could be a progression at being Sub-20. Dual Color Neutrality sounds interesting. I mean, yeah I can do yellow crosses but I'm not very good at it. Efficient Crosses on bottom have brought me to Sub-25. And that's more or less after the addition of some new F2L inserts and back F2L inserts. I think I can try Dual Color Neutrality from now on. If not much it can help me with an improvement of at least 1 or 2 seconds. And after Sub-25 I believe, every second counts. anyway, Good Luck @jdh3000 with learning DCN. As you progress, please add more of your experience to this thread so that it helps other cubers who are aspiring to learn DCN as well.

Ok after a few days of trying to go for completely color neutral:

After spending a day on orange I felt trapped, like I wasn't making any progress(I know it was just a day), so I went back to white to get a feeling of being able to solve the cube, which honestly I was questioning I could do, lol!

I hadn't given up but just needed that feeling of knowing that I could still solve.

At first I was having a little trouble warming up. I thought if it's going to be like this after a day, what will a month of no white solving do? I know many do it this way, but that won't work for me, not now.

Halfway through the next day of solving white and working yellow in, which is much better now, I started trying other colors, not just orange. I actually seemed to do better this way.
I did several solves just picking the best cross.

Here's my plan; because I know I still have other things to work on with white(and yellow), I’ll put the other colors in casual mode for the time being meaning just periodically to break up the routine, I'll solve some other colors
It seems to give me a better feeling about what I'm doing.

I solve for fun, relaxation, and just to zone out and get lost in solving. I work on little problem areas and that keeps me focused. For some reason focusing on one color, whilst I’m certain with enough time I would master, I felt something was gone, almost like a withdrawal if you will.

I thing at this point working on white and yellow, yellow not seeming like it will take much to be as good as white, is my main focus.
I can alway find something to work on there; better look ahead, more efficient f2l and a faster cross.

Somehow after warming up on white I did get a feeling of being faster after spending a day struggling with one other color. That probably is just in my mind, but it seemed to be more fluid, look ahead was better, just everything falling into place.

I may eventually get full CN, but it will be slow. If I feel comfortable solving on other colors doing it casually, I may devote more effort to it.
At any rate I will be DCN.

Ok, I've resumed trying to go color neutral.

I was casually hitting at it, but I've spent the last few days back on orange.

I'm goint to stick with orange and not try jumping around, until it feels closer to white... at least as good as my yellow.

If my white is 100%, my yellow is like 70%... and right now my orange is still like 10%. I may be underrating it, but it feels so awkward.

Cross isn't bad, nor is oll/pll, but f2l is very, very strange.

It feel like putting on goggles that make you see the world upside down and backwards, then trying to do something that requires a lot of coordination and dexterity.

I really have difficulty seeing the colors. I can find the orange corner ok, but the edge alludes me a bit, let alone trying to pair and insert it quickly. I get it done but it’s not easy, I really have to think and try not to pair it wrong.

I'm going to follow the advice of sticking with each color for a week.

If I can get orange down, I'll feel inspired to work on the rest.

Trust me, once you finish you'll confidently be able to solve all colors as easily as white! It's very useful in the long run, and I'm really glad I started CN early on to save me from most of the pain later on lol

The best way I find to being CN is to just fully go into it. Don't treat it one color at a time. CN is more of a state of mind, and filtering out cross pieces that look good from the start eventually becomes easier.

Having days of concentrating on certain cross colors goes against the concept of being color "neutral" since you're already training your brain with color bias from the start.

Just solve a bunch and consider what color looks best. That's it. That's all it took for me to become CN, anyway. Good luck!

I tried just solving everything, it felt so very awkward. I have heard that's a good way of doing it though.
I think I have to break my mind away from the tunnel vision of seeing only white related colors. Yellow wasn't much of a switch since I basically just swapped yellow for white.

I may try just solving them all again and see how it goes.

Something I'm trying to do is condition my mind to see these colors... I'm drilling each pair one at a time, rather than just sloving the cube.

I find, pair and insert one pair, then pull it back out, break it up and do it all again very quickly.

I've gotten so used to white that I never think about the colors, I just see a corner and edge and my fingers take over while I do the next pair.

Having to search for colors is new again, and I've been doing cfop several years. However I'm not going to let it discourage me. I just have to work a little harder to recondition my mind's filtering process.

I found that doing one color for a week worked better for me. It took me about a month until I finally felt confident with color neutrality.
