Which Cube?

I currently have a Rubik's DIY and I'm thinking I want to get a new DIY, one that will hopefully be better with cutting corners, one area mine lacks.

I read several threads about it, and I think I've got it down to two cubes:

or
http://cube4you.com/247_New-type-White-DIYKit-3x3x3-third-model-(a).html

Basically, I was wondering if you could tell me which of these two is generally considered to be better overall, but more specifically which one is better at cutting corners.

Thanks

Hi,

at first I wanna say that there are a lot of threads like this and all 'Which cube is best for speedcubing' issues can't be answered finally, its all a matter of personal preference (and the differences in producing two same cubes, a type c isn't always a type c :D ).

Am I getting you right that you wan't to know if type IIIa or 3rd model a is better? I think there's no real difference, just by the names . . . but I'm not 100% sure!

For being sure which cube is better for you get both ! !
(The shipping costs are so high, one cube more or less doesn't really matter ;) )

I've used both cubes (don't own them though) and I personally think the first one feels better

but I'd say buy both, and while you're at it also buy a cube4you cube, they're not expensive anyway

a III is different... it has extra tabs and stuff to keep from popping. The normal A cuts better but be warned, even at the perfect tension it will pop.

i think the normal one would be better. the III has those tabs just as aznmortalx said, and ive heard those kinda get in the way. but yeah i think you should try a C4Y cube. theyre great and pretty cheap.

off topic: is the 2112 in your name because your a rush fan? :)

Why has nobody suggested Tox|K's review of most popular DIYs or even my review of the Type A III? That should really be the standard answer.

Recently there was a thread about which the best Type A was, you should try and find it. It will be one the first or second pages, it's quite a good thread if you want to know about the somewhat confusing Type A cubes. Unfortunately the search function won't find it simply because of the fact that the main search term is 'A'.

yeah, my name did come from the rush song/album

so it sounds like I may just be better off saving a bit of money and getting the cube4you one? does this one still cut corners well, and also, can you take off the center square easily to readjust the tension if you want?

Yes, it cuts corners really well, and is adjustable.
