I understand that there are many existing posts very similar to this one. However, none of them seem to have the exact parameters of this one. The Question: what is the best cube, IN YOUR OPINION, for speedsolving? I know that the best cube for each person is his own opinion, but I want to come to a general consensus and only have to buy one cube; rather than experimenting with all of them to find my personal favorite. Please tell WHY you like this cube: does it rarely pop? rarely lock up? have good stickers?....
P.S. -- I'm thinking about buying the Diansheng (type e) cube. Any comments about that one?
P.P.S -- When buying a DIY, do you prefer A or D?

The Bad: I've only had an Old Type A, but here it goes:

The Good: Smooth cube, nice. Although Type A's seem to be know for popping a little more than the others, mine does not unless you force it. Get a good tension, silicone/jig-a-loo it nicely, tada. :) It remains a good speedcube, but there are some days where it's just smoother than... idk... Cutex cubes? (Nakajima smooth)

I have a A/DianSheng combo. It is basically an A w/DS Springs, and center piece(not core).

Why I like it: VERY fast, smooth turning, very fast.

What I don't like about it: so-so corner cutting(but that is good to train your turning precision, mine has improved), POPs sometimes, locks-ups sometimes(but I'm sure that could be partially remedied with perfect tension).

Overall: I like it, but I am not absolutely crazy about it. Overall, a good cube, IMO.:)

I have a Diansheng with a Type A core. I have the tension set so that I can almost pull the cubies out at a 45 degree angle. It can cuts corners well and it rarely pops. It's fast even without lube, but silicone will make it really smooth.I bought mine from RubikFans on eBay, he gives you stickers with the cube because the ones that come with it are worse than Rubik's PET stickers.

Use a store bought
put lube in straight away and break in
it will be better than a DIY

Ignore that.
They dont cut corners, and though it is fast, they simply dont compare with the amazing diys.

Cube4you cube is okay in my opinion, ive tried the black and red, and i own the white. (friend ordered for friends) and the difference between colors is negligible.
- Its fast, has a good feeling, and is somewhat light, hard to say, but not my favorite.

My favorite cube would either be a C, an Edison+cube4you core/screw/spring, with edison centres, or my Transparent Joy + JSK clone core/screw/spring.

I dont like As, they seem to get bad over time, (all of mine)
But theyre good at first.

I would reccomend an Edison cube for sure.

I don't think you should buy a cube just because they have good stickers (www.cubesmith.com for all your cubes!:))
On topic: my favourite at this moment: type A (black) because it's fast, can cut corners pretty good and reacts very well to lube. But it pops if you don't have enough accuracy:) (But I think my black C4Y cube will become my new maincube:) it will come next week...I guess:))

It doesn't matter. Sometimes a seemingly perfect cube can give you worse times than a cube that feels horrible.
There are 5 types of cube
1. Feel good, actually good
2. Feel bad, actually fast in real solve
3. Feel Amazing, nice algorithm execution, slow in real solve
4. Feel amazing, slow algorithm execution but feels fast, slow in solving.
5. Feel bad, actually bad

So far, I've only had cubes of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th type.

A is 2.
Rubik's can be any category, most of them are 5.
C is usually 2, and sometimes can be 3 or 1.
D is usually 3 or 4.
I don't know about other types.

I have Diansheng and type (a). I've used others that my friends have though. And the agreement is my DS is the best. Dianshengs are real nice and cheap. I put Cubesmith on mine because the paint stickers they have suck.

i have all of them,(well there is only 2 kind up there) cube4you cube is pretty nice, and the speed cube, you will need to change the core to the cube4you core and springs, the one that come with this speed cube is not that good, the screws will become lose over time

I have over a dozen cubes but
http://www.puzl.co.uk/competition-standard-speed-cube-p-92.html
is the best for me. Unlike my other DIY cubes from Rubiks and PuzzleProz, it cuts corners okay, it's hard to pop, hardly jams, twists fast and effortlessly. The pieces are light so you can change a twist direction almost instantaneously.

My 2 Cube4you cubes came (one yellow, one porcelain white). They turn with almost zero effort (with a little silicone spray) and are amazing with cutting corners. I still prefer my PUZL cube because it is lighter and is a bit more forgiving with jams if I happen to "undercut a corner" instead of "overcut a corner". (Normally when you cut corners, the other face is over-twisted slightly. If it is under-twisted, you will pop or jam on most cubes.)

You betcha.

However, none of them seem to have the exact parameters of this one.
We'll see about that

You can only get an idea of how a cube is, but eventually it's your opinion that only counts.

Check ''very similiar'' threads for this?

I'm with rjohnson_8ball. My puzl CS are the best. At least to start with. They cut corners very well and don't pop too often. I must say that the factory settings are very effective.
I've tried several things when they start to age: cleaning works really good, lube makes them mushy.

Off subject: a few months ago I am on a plane in Europe, cubing (what else). I go to the restroom, leaving my cube on my seat. When I come back the cube is gone. I still can't believe it...

I am using a dayan 2x2Moyu Huanying 3x3 and Shengshou 4x4 - 6x6 and heavily lubed and modded v-cube 7
Dayan megaminx
Shengshou pyraminx
A skewb, no idea what brand, but turns nicely
Mf8 triple fused void petaminx, Square 1
I dont solve clocks
If anyone has any ideas on improvements then please reply.

None of these cubes have ever popped but i am really not happy with the Shengshou 4x4 and 6x6 because, although they turn fast, they don't cut corners well (compared to other cubes) and feel unstable.:)
