Hi, my name is Rivka and I'm from California. I like gaming, coding, swimming, and math.

About a month and a half ago we were moving and I accidentally found my old Rubiks brand 2x2. I thought that maybe now that I was older and more mature, I would actually be able to solve it for once. I read guides and I got addicted. I loved seeing the cube completed!

Soon I got annoyed with how slow the cube was so I got some vaseline (I know not the best lube but that was all I had) and lubed my cube. It was still bad. Soon after I got my first speedcube, a GAN 354M. I have quite a bit of money saved up so I didn't mind the cost of the cube, I can afford pretty much any cube within reason.

I'm now down to around 40-50 seconds, and I've also learned F2L, but I still use beginner method for speedsolving, my F2L is SLOW.

I want to get a new cube, one more challenging than the 3x3 so not a pyraminx/skewb. What cube do you recommend that I get? I can afford most anything, money isn't a constraint. Should I get something more expensive, a midrange, or a budget cube? I also have smaller hands, so I would prefer a smaller cube (although that's probably not that important)

Also, should I order from Speedcubeshop, The Cubicle, or a different site?

Oh yeah, and 4x4 and megaminx are good. Clock is also real cool, (though kinda easy)

People here love to try to convince people to switch methods,DON'T SWITCH yet, I would advise you to wait until you average around 30 seconds with CFOP, then trying a few other methods and see if they are more fun and/or faster before making a final decision. (CFOP is a great option and is what I use to average sub 10)

EDIT: I bet this post gets 17 angry reactions.

I disagree. It's much harder to switch when you average 30 secs.

I don't get why everyone says to use CFOP until they’re sub-30/20. What makes makes it special? It was popularized when no other method was popular?

It’s faster because everyone uses it. In a different reality, ZZ/Roux/Petrus is probably ‘faster’ because more people use it, and therefore more fast cubers will emerge with CFOP.
I'm sorry, but this doesn't even make sense. Let's not clog his member intro post.

CFOP is better because it is 100% for sure faster on 4x4 and up.

@chocool6 beware of Owen Morrison, all his arguments about methods are purely opionated and have no validity as far as i have seen. Except the big cube things, but if you learn other methods you can normally do CFOP since the hard part is just dumbed down block building, which most other methods have, so you can still be good at big cubes without maining CFOP.

I was saying that CFOP is only 'faster' because more people use is, meaning a greater chance of a fast cuber using CFOP. Also, no one has put time into a non-CFOP method that's good for big cubes.

But ya, let's not clog it up.

Welcome! I would also recommend getting a 4x4, if you want top-of-the-line, I would go with the Valk 4 M or the Moyu Aosu WR M. If you want a mid-priced/budget cube, get the Yuxin Little Magic M or the YJ Yusu M. Since you live in California, the best place to order from is probably speedcubeshop.com because they are based in L.A. (I think).

Yeah, it's a little better for big cubes, but much worse for OH and feet.
I don't solve big cubes so...
Not much worse. I heard that Max park got another WR with OH. What method does he use????? CFOP.

Also it is kinda sad that everyone who has decided not to use CFOP doesn't do big cubes, they really make cubing more fun imo.
