Hey everyone,

So I just wanted to share with you all some events I've been hosting and plan to continue to host. Rubik's Cube workshops. They are intended for brand new people to cubing or people with little knowledge but everyone is welcomed! Basically at these events I teach groups of people how to solve a 3x3, give them resources for improvement and answer any questions they may have about speedcubing as well as clarify some common misconceptions. And I also just show off some cool solves like blindfolded solving as well as perform some magic tricks with a cube involved.

I think these events are great because yes you can certainly learn from YouTube or a written guide but having hands on guidance and help isn't a bad thing at all. And most every student I encounter gets very into it and I have a very high success rate when it comes to teaching.

For anyone interested I've made an album HERE on my website that has some pictures from past events.

And a big upcoming event is HERE. It is in Atlanta GA, jan 12

I will continue to use this thread to share anymore new events I may have coming up :)

Hej SirWaffle, I am doing free workshops "Magic Cube for beginners" in german at our public library in Cologne. 4 times a year and it's always fun. We had it 8 times now and the public library wants to continue also in 2019.

I try to teach a beginners method that is free of perms and with a minimum of algs to learn. But it also is good as base to switch to CFOP later. If you like you can see the steps here:

That's so cool you do it 4 times a year! How many end up going on to comps? Also do you tend to teach real notation or with arrows? I find that some people work better with arrows and then move onto written notation shortly thereafter.

One family goes to comps now, and we became friends. We have always a meetup after the workshops and several people come there, too.

I try to teach with as few algs as possible. Instead of R U R' (or L' U' L) I tell them "open the slot, pull the corner, and close the slot again" and so on. On the workshop papersheet (see on my website) they see notation with arrows.
