If you want to be really fancy, you could put the OLLs where the metals are on a real periodic table, the PLLs where the nonmetals are, and a solved face (of each color) in the place of noble gasses.

Yeah, but IMO it's more important that the number of flipped edges increases which corresponds to the increasing number of valence electrons

I was thinking that protons could be the amount of edges unoriented and electrons could be the amount of corners misoriented clockwise and for a counterclockwise misoriented corner would add 2 to the electrons.
