[Unofficial] Clock Single 6.50 seconds - Dennis Strehlau

Nice Dennis

I challenge you to figure out how to speedsolve the Clock, without flipping it after the first cross. That should improve your times by about 1 second and is also more fun to perform

???
How is that possible, i mean without being slower?

Greetings, Dennis;):)

Can you add/substract/memo 4 numbers in 15 seconds?

Absolutely:)!!!

Good luck with the rest of the challenge. You have basically acknowledged that you have all the needed capabilities

I just tried it a few times, it is hard to turn the wheels 4/5/6 clicks fast without making a mistake (beetje moeilijk om het goed in het Engels uit te leggen, maar je ziet zeg maar niet snel waar het klokje heen moet draaien, normaal zet je ze gelijk maar nu moet hij naar een ander punt dus de herkenning is moeilijk, en het kost waarschijnlijk meer tijd dan de clock omdraaien)

You shouldn't look at the clocks you are turning. That's the whole point of this method. You get faster because you don't have to:
1) Think about the clocks you are turning (you already know you are going to do v,w,x,y,z)
2) Turn the Clock
3) Get to look-ahead for the second cross during the execution of v,w,x,y,z

Maybe you should practice doing the v,w,x,y,z part without looking. Just like you could practise cross on 3x3x3?

I am still not 100% accurate on the v,w,x,y,z part (also because I have a really bad Clock). I didn't dare to use the no-flipping method at Aachen because it was still mean of 3 so every DNF means that the mean will also be DNF. As soon as Clock becomes average of 5 I will start doing no-flipping in competitions

1) ?
2) 0.5-0.6 seconds, worth trying it a few times more
3) I already memorize the skips on the second cross :P

3) I already memorize the skips on the second cross :P

1) v,w,x,y,z are the moves to form the cross on the back (5 maximum)
2) That's almost 10% of a solve ;)
3) Very good. Do you only memorize the obvious skips (2 similarly aligned clocks) or also calculate how to create forced skips?

I thought about this a while ago, but never had the urge to pursue it. I do disagree with you on a few points though.

0) you do need to look at it. Turning quickly, accurately, and blindly are 3 things that are hard to do at the same time. when you are solving 1.5-2 clocks per second you really need to see what you are doing.
1) not thinking makes it much harder. regular clock solving is simple see and react. You only need to look ahead 1 clock at any time(assuming you don't freestyle anything), which is easy to do.
2) not having to flip is a nice advantage. :D
3) memorizing clocks during inspection is nothing new, I always do the first 3 on the first side, and the first on the second side, along with any obvious skips. when I have time tomorrow I will work out a way to quickly calculate v-z just by looking at what you have.

I will work more on adopting this method after Newark, I don't want to be out of practice for my current method and still not fast with this method.
