not sure if anyone else has seen this yet but qiyi just recently announced their 19x19 which according to them should be coming out by the end of the year.

I was thinking to myself how much is it going to cost to buy one but that made me think "what is the limit for highest mass produced nxn puzzle?" Technically you can go up insanely high BUT you have to start thinking from the companies perspective. You are trying to make as much money as possible and if you make a 19x19 that sells for $1000 (just an example not real pricing) how many people will buy that? And when we make bigger and bigger puzzles they will just get more and more expensive, eventually reaching a point where only a few cubers who make tons of money (or decide to go into a lot of debt) will be able to get these massive nxn puzzles. So what are your opinions on this guys?

At some point it ceases to be an economic consideration and they do it just for bragging rights. The question then is not whether they can make money at it, but whether they can afford to lose that much money.

I think that we are reaching the limit to build high order nxn puzzles with our current technology. Remember, the sun expands to a red giant and swallows Earth as a whole in 5 billion years. Until then, we've got 5 billion years to create new technology to create puzzles. Humans have existed for only 200,000 years. We've only used up about one 25,000th of our time on Earth, and that's not even thinking about inter planetary/galactic/universal colonization. And for only 5,000 of those years have we built any sort of real civilization. For only 40 years have twisty puzzles even been made. We've only been making twisty puzzles for 0.0000008% of the time we have left to make them. Technological advancements will make everything possible to produce and easy to produce eventually. Maybe not in our lifetimes, but eventually. We are only 0.0000008% of the way there. I'm excited!

I think you over complicated it, and there is no way that we could know any of that.

It is time that the 33x33 design made by Greg should be mass produced.

It would be an extremely expensive puzzle and a hard one to make, quality control wise and mechanical strength wise.
