I'm learning the Fridrich (CFOP) method, and I'm getting times around 55 seconds, even though I really only started this week (which is really good, considering I get these same times with Petrus, which I've been using for over a month). This is how my times break down, on average:
Cross about 5 seconds
F2L about 30 seconds
OLL about 10 seconds
PLL about 10 seconds
Obviously I can improve my OLL and PLL recognition, I use 2-look OLL and I only know 11 of the 21 PLL algorithms. But even if I can reduce my OLL and PLL to 10 seconds together (5 seconds each), my F2L really stands in my way of reaching my goal of a sub-30 single and a sub-40 average.
I was wondering whether it would make me faster or slower to memorize an algorithm for each of the 42 F2L possibilities. If it makes me slower, how can I improve my F2L (my move count is really high)? Thank you.
