Do you solve the X2 like the original X-Cube?

So basically I got this new puzzle called the X2; JRCuber recently did an unboxing on it as well. I have one quick question; how do you solve it? I mean, is it solved like the regular X-Cube? Or do you have to do something completely different to solve the added layers on each end?

It was either JR or redKB that did a solve on it and said it's solved the same way.
