Hey guys, im a 29 average solver and my pb is 20, I do f2l, 2l oll (dont know headlights yet), and 2l pll (i dont know e-perm, z-perm, and the good cw 3 edge cycle (for cw 3 edge cycle i use F2 U L R' F2 L' R U F2)). I was just wondering if i could start learning some oh algs and blindfold algs or move on to a new method or something, would it muddle my alg learning for CFOP? Should i master CFOP first? My parents say i should master 3x3 first before moving into oh and bld. Thanks!

OH can use the same algs as 2 hands, except slice moves are very difficult. I average around 35 seconds 2 handed, and 1:15 OH, and I haven't learned any dedicated OH algs. It's difficult when I run into a Z- or H-perm, but it's possible. I think that starting to play with OH is largely responsible for my recent improvement from ~42 seconds to ~35. I haven't learned blind yet, but my understanding is that it's a different beast.

So in short, mastery is relative, and you should always listen to your parents, but you could suggest to them that practicing OH might help you with your 2 handed solves. I think it has had that effect for me.

If you know the T and Y perms, you should be able to learn Old Pochmann for BLD very easily.

Nope, i dont know it yet.

They're actually really easy to learn if you know these two short OLLs:

(R U R' U') (R' F R F') - sexy then sledgehammer
F R U' R' U' R U R' F' - F, insert pair, U', take pair out, F'

So the T perm is the first OLL then the second and the Y perm is the second then the first.

T perm: (R U R' U') R' F R2 U' R' U' R U R' F' - the Fs between the OLLs cancel and the Rs become an R2

Y perm: F R U' R' U' R U R' F' (R U R' U') (R' F R F') - two OLLs

Memo tactics? How hard is it to memorise? I see breaking into new cycles a trouble spot. Are there any people who solely do bld as their main event? I am getting really bored of 3x3 and is see it as nothing special but speed. As in like Phil Yu main event is oh. Just wondering

Every event has people who consider it their main event. I can't really speak for other people, but many people who have high blind rankings would consider it their main event.

3BLD and 4BLD are my main events. You can do other events and it won't interfere with your 3x3 progress. Especially for BLD, you don't need new algs, you just need to understand how cycles work.
If you're bored of 3x3 definitely check out new stuff or try new methods

Doing just 3x3 is boring. Maybe you'll improve a bit faster doing just that but you'll get a lot more fun trying other events, not only OH or BLD but big cubes, 2x2, skewb, pyra, megaminx... Unless you really want to excel at 3x3... Even throw in some non-WCA and non-speed solving like ghost and other 3x3 shapemods, cuboids, etc.

Thanks! Looking to get a GuanPo and a GuanSu
