You should have complained to the judge saying that you weren't ready. Technically speaking, your attempts never officially started:

• A3b2) The competitor starts the attempt by confirming that they are ready, and the judge uncovers the puzzle and starts timing the inspection.

I probably would have, but last time this happened, I got PB single, and I was kind of hoping the same thing would happen again.
