Probably the slowest parts of my solve while using the Petrus method are building the 2x2x2 and the 2x2x3 bricks. I think this is because I don't use a very fast method of solving them. Could someone give me some tips on how to quickly and efficiently build the 2x2x2 and 2x2x3 bricks? Thanks you!

there is no "method" to block building. so it's kinda hard to help people with it. I recommend you try entering in the FMC and watch how other people make their blocks.

practice helps too

Blockbuilding is really something you have to work on yourself. There are so many possibilities that it makes it hard for people to give tips. Just go to lar5.com and read everything and watch every applet. And read this:

That should work also. It's help for a different method but the basic idea will give you the same ability-boosting results.

You need to learn to recognize and understand a lot of different move combos like these. With patience you can find them by yourself, but at least for me, looking at optimal solution found by a computer is a much faster way to improve. You can try ACube or my solvers (S1, S2, jarcs).

I do it kind of like my f2l.

First I place 2 adjacent edges. (As if I were going to build a cross.)

Then I place the edge and corner in the slot. This makes the 2x2x2 block.

Next, I place one more edge.

The last step is to finish the last edge slot. This makes the 2x2x3.

Basically it is F2L minus 2 edge-corner slots and one edge in the cross.
